Just thought I'd post a quick update on how things are going here. Miles are still here. In fact, the trips are outstanding. Since the 1st of the year, I've done a total of 8 loads (counting the one that I'll unload on Monday) with a total of 9,920 miles.

Anyway, here's my stats since I started here last April:
    Total weeks: 42
    Total miles dispatched: 101,501
Total miles actual: 109,450 (These miles also include my empty moves to home, which are unpaid - miles from the house are paid)
    Total loads: 127
    Average miles/week: 2,417
    Average loads/week: 3.02
Average trip (loaded + empty): 799.22
Keep in mind that these numbers are directly from what I get paid. They include the short weeks when I'm going/coming home, as well as my vacation time (I had a 10 day vacation over Christmas, so there was a week with 0 miles, even though I was paid $600 vacation pay).

Question... How much freight do you have to unload yourself or do they pay for all lumpers?

Now I'm getting the fun of fighting my 70 hour clock again. When I worked at WST, I was home every weekend and had a reset every week. Not now. Gonna be fun relearning. Nothing like having 500 miles to run with 5.75 hours available today - lol
How? Do you do that?? smh...

I've never touched a bit of freight in the trailer. The most I've ever had to do is slap a couple straps on. Besides, it's 75-80% drop/hook. The few places I've went to that required lumpers was paid no questions asked.

How long is orientation? What is the company looking for on the driver's test... do you have to double clutch or can you float the gears? Do they want you to do a pre-trip?

Orientation is 3 days, get truck on the 4th. Driving test is just that - drive maybe 3-4 miles, do a tight backing test. They want you to drive it as you drive normally. No pre-trip.

My husband is looking at them right now - are things still going well? What do they start drivers at with 2+ years experience? Do you think getting home to San Diego will be an issue?
