Default To Yank a tank or not!

Okay, Here we go again! I drove for Groendyke until October of last year! We were really slow and I figured hey if I am gonna be broke, I may as well go to school right? Wrong! Apparently you have to have a little more money than I could carry in my change pocket to go to school! I am re-hirable at Groendyke but I know it is still slow! Got an offer at Transwood Carriers out of Tulsa, and have also applied to Knight Transportation! I have had enough time off that I am ready to roll! I got a twic, hazmat, doubles, triples, and a great hair cut! Not sure if I want to yank a tank again or slide tandems! I do know I would like to work for someone who has a terminal in Oklahoma, instead of Joplin, Mo. I am sure to get a lot of views and welcome them all! Kind of frustrated though that the companies I looking at don't allow inverters and I am a big computer nut and I like to eat healthy (meaning not truck stop food)! I even looked at JCT out of Sapulpa, OK but the wife says I can't join a F lease company! (she is an ex driver too) Anyway, haven't been on here in probably a year so suggest what you will, and know that I appreciate it! I would even give you jelled beans but I don't have any!

I wondered what happened to you.

If you are serious about checking out Transwood...then check out Wynne too.

    Wynne Transport Service, INC.

Don't let terminal location diswade you.

If maybe flatbed strikes your fancy...try Kelworth, and Paul

Yeah, I kind of fell off the map for a bit! lol! Totally forgot about Wynne! Thanks, I will hit them up! Skateboarding huh? Lets see, I can mark off van, and tanks! I just need a little skateboarding and reefer action! And in a few years I may go to work for my Uncle who currently runs a one man car hauler company! Then I will turn 40 and decide I want to be a lifeguard! lol Thanks for the heads up on those companies! I think I am gonna go ahead and say no to lifeguard!

I had no beef with Transwood, I just wanted a different schedule.
Is the fat lady still running the Tulsa terminal? She seemed pretty cool, as long as you don't do anything to get on her bad side

I talked to Mr. Stine at The tulsa terminal and I go to see him next week. I don't know who will dispatch but he said they have some dedicated and such and the dispatcher has a lot of experience. He was really nice man!

Tanks are a lot of work. Thinking of going back to bumping docks. Really isn't enough pay differential to justify the extra work.

i was thinking that just the other day, i was sent to the psc tankwash a couple of miles from the terminal, to pick up a tank to go and live load to detroit. when i got to the tankwash, the trailers were so close together i couldn't do a walk around without pulling it out first. i found a broken tail light, left over product from the load all over the inside of the trailer tires(rear unloader) upon opening the domelid, long stringy glue like substance was on the dome lid gasket. and while i'm on a rant, the true pro before me did'nt cap his or her hoses, so the hose tubes were not full of old product but there was a lot of stuff in there that would'nt be there if they had done it right. so, i feel better now i just had to get that out. thanks for bringing that thought to my mind. joy!

And how many times have you walked the yard searching for hoses because it's on the freight bills, only to get to the customer and you don't need any?

I'm thinking 80% of the time. The really aggravating ones are when the order calls for 120' of hose, u round it all up (usually walking through mud and goo, and dragging hoses through said mud and goo), get to the consignee and you didn't need a single stick.

I question this tanker stuff everyday. The work, the tiny sleepers, the goo, the slop, the stink of styrene, the muck and the mire.

I also dread pump offs using these archaic pumps that are designed for pumping water where spills aren't an issue. These PTO pumps are nothing but a big hassle and mess.

OMG are you guys serious or is this a April fools joke? I would never want to go back to bumping docks and being treated like a second class citizen again. I guess one thing is for sure from the sounds of it I guess carrying your own hose is the way to go.

i brought a load down from chicaga today(sat.) delivering to graham,nc. monday. in the body of the travel order it said druming nozzle needed, i've had this once before but did'nt need it due to the receiver updating there off loading procedure, i'll keep my finger's crossed.

well, the drumming nozzle was needed.come to find out the customer only had enough empty totes for about 30,000 pounds of product. and yes i had 41,500 on the trailer, that's probably the biggest heal i had to deal with. so it took about 3.5 hours for somebody to figure out who's gonna pay the bill for me to leave the customer's location.joyy.

Look at the bright side. At least you get paid loaded miles all the way back. I had one refused for lab work once. Sat there for 6 hours before they told me I could leave then pulled it back to the shipper. They put new tags and seals on it nothing else. They took it the next day.

yea, and it was bright sunny day, freezing cold and raining would have been a bi**h. i only had a 100 miles back to the yard, then to the house.

    Default whew!

Thanks for the talk about tanking. Rules out this as an option. Looks like it will be team driving instead, at least for awhile. ; ) I don't want to trade one kind of time-waster for another.
