Nobody is really hiring int he area. I put out some feelers and everyone had a pile of applications. The only one that MIGHT promising was Duncan & son lines. I found a "sample schedule" of basically 3 days out split and weekends off with them.... (out Sun, Tues, Thurs nights... home Mon, wed, fri-sun afternoon hauling containers between Phoenix and Long Beach). She (HR chick) told me they are trying to hire the most qualified.. which to me means the most driving experience and my 1.5 years don't qualify.
Albertson's is closing a lot of marginal stores in the Phoenix area and have several drivers on lay-off right now. I have a good friend who transferred from the main Brea (CA.) DC to Phoenix 4 years ago. He is currently on lay-off and has been told he can transfer back to Brea. When I was driving for Brown, I had a Phoenix/Tucson bid and used to see the absolute junk that Duncan and Son's operates from the LA harbor to Buckeye. I believe they also pay by the load....
"What did BROWN do TO ME ?????
the whole phoenix area is dried up on driving gigs. the only places hiring are the coolie OTR outfits. i doubt you wanna get back into the slave labor industry.
