I have worked for both companies in the last year. The drivers at JB were not happy but the office people seemed to be. When a company that depends on drivers seems more interested in keeping the people in the office happy than the drivers that should tell you something about the overall company culture. Both the office and the drivers at SNI seem happy more or less.

I can not recommend JB to anyone.

I've been hearing that about Schneider a lot lately. That tells me a lot. Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

They're still hiring hot and heavy around here...one of only about two companies that seem to still be aggressively recruiting in this area (the other being Knight)

I went to Knight's website, and they have exactly the type of job I'm looking for: Entry Level Transportation Manager, but its based in Mississippi, and I'm kinda screwed now because I just bought a house and I'd lose if I sold it (or tried to).

Anyone know of any trucking companies in the NW Indiana or south chicago suburbs I could try?

Thanks,

Erick

There are some steel hauler companies around Chicago. Some of the larger carriers have agents in and around Chicago. CRST, Landstar and many others have large agents around the area. There is a company listings on this website. You can find carriers by state. It lists most of the larger carriers.

SNI has a bigass terminal in Gary.
I also think Roehl has some sort of terminal not far from the SNI one.
I used to drive for Schneider, and I'd say they have a pretty solid operation top to bottom.

Thanks guys for all your replies. Is there anyone here that works or has worked for Schneider that can help get me in the door at Schneider? I'm miserable at my current job...
