Unhappy Live east of i-95 in north carolina

I have 4 years local driving experience pulling 53' van. Due to the company going downhill and getting worse, I have been looking elsewhere, but with a bad economy, jobs are not plentiful. There is nothing local that pays enough to live on. I have looked at otr, regional preferred, but when the recruiters see that I live east of I-95, they shut the door ion my face, and some give me an attitude, like I wasted their time. Does anyone know of a company that will give me a chance? A couple of companies would have hired me, but had no openings in north carolina. I have never seen driving jobs so scarce before.

You also have Givens Trans out of Va Beach and if Flatbed isn't a problem, Mitchell Trans is out of Emporia, VA. Have no idea if either is hiring but if they are, your in their operating area.

As far as I know givens isn't hireing right now. I know the senior driver for that company and he said they actualy laid off, frieght is slow. Now if your driving record is good, there is heartland express. I know they hire out of the area. If you asked this question b4 why you doing it again.

    Talking Hey hawkjr

I called Schneider just a week ago, and recruiter told me that they did not even have an otr position open in north carolina. As for you claiming i pull this stunt year in and year out, i only joined a year ago. current job was ok til economy went south. I am hit by the carriers famous lines: No 1 year recent otr experience or live east of 95.

ah, also, do you live close to plymouth? it's kinda local but salem leaseing seems to be hireing if you have a twic card. Most places you check with will require 1 year OTR exp recent. There are exceptions, USA was willing to take me dispite being out since november till just a few weeks ago but not to many places will do that. Only thing that saved my but in that deal was I drove contiuous from march 06 till nov 08

"As a transportation company with a growing fleet, we are always seeking applications from talented and experienced drivers. If you are 25 or older, and have at least two years of verifiable driving experience, then we encourage you to apply today. We need local and regional singles, and coast-to-coast singles and teams — particularly drivers who live within 25 miles of an exit along the I‑85 (VA to GA), I‑95 (VA to northern FL) and I‑40 (NC to OK) corridors. We also are seeking owner/operators with late model tractors"

    Epes not hiring
G&D not hiring, many trucks sitting.
Schneider might hire for cans out of Wilimington. One hand dosn't know what the other is doing. They told me no jobs in NC and I got hired the next week by them.
    TSI in Goldsboro runs flats
MSM in Rocky Mount offered me a foodservice job. Money seemed ok but I didnt take it.
    Barnes...maybe.
C&C Duncan, SC hires along I85 and I95.
I think TMC has a small yard in eastern NC. Another driver told me that once. Don't know where it is, though.
Tidewater runs many trucks but I'm not sure they will hire you if you have no experience running tanks or bulk.
I ran by an outfit in Wilmington a couple of times this week that had a sign out on the road saying "Now hiring drivers". Not sure what they ran.

MCO Transport is a tanker company.

Tidewater will train you, if you have 3 years driving experience. They are a decent outfit....and run Volvos.

MCO is good to. I just don't see their trucks a lot.

he says he cant find a job anywhere, and then when he is offered one, he turns it down, maybe it's not whining, but it is if I say so, because I am always right .

Whats your problem? I didnt start the thread and didnt take the job because I already had gotten another one. You have me mistaken with the guy that started the thread. I was just responding to him.
