something that bothers me, their website states that owner operators average $1.00 to $1.10 a mile plus fuel surcharge, but it says lease operators average $1.75 to $1.80 a mile plus fuel surcharge?? does this mean they are screwing the owner operators or inflating the lease purchase numbers?
a load pays what a load pays, so why the big difference?

"one" of those guys is due to make an update soon- over at my message board. A thread titled "Strange Days at Koch" by MeV- Koch is the company he has left to go to WEL. That's assuming Koch got him home in time .. and that he went ahead and jumped ship.. Orientation was scheduled for Monday. He's been unusually quiet and absent last couple days... then again a Grayhound ride from Ga-Wisconsion could be a hell of an ordeal.

While drifting down to SLC through Boise, I ran a couple hundred miles with a WEL driver based out of Dallas. He is looking for a new seat, because his checks and miles have been extremely light the last 2 months. Said he has only been getting 800 miles a week, and that his check last week, after deductions, was $21.00!

well... if you ran into him in Boise, Id- then he's currently 1700 miles away from his yard(Dallas). He must be getting some miles this week. Unless, of course those LTL stops have been kicking his butt. But that don't sound good.

    well......maybe on to plan C, D, or E.

WEL and Koch were the 2 companies on my list.

Maybe that call about JB intermodal is next.

Something about the fact that I am considering calling JB gives me the hee bee geebies.

He was on the longest run in 2 months, according to him. He was headed home in Dallas out of Hermiston OR, but the only reason he was giving a straight run home, again according to him, was because he has a court date with his ex-wife Tuesday.

He said that they had been giving him a steady diet of 700 to 800 mile dispatches, with 2 and 3 day lay-overs. Hence the court date. His ex wants more money and thinks he is hiding it. According to him.

It's really tough to gauge a company, based on complaints from one driver. I saw several O/O trucks for WEL running up US287, but none of them were talking on the cb.

While I was waiting to retreive my truck from the International shop in Portland OR, I talked with an FFE company driver (he and his wife were running as a super-solo, while she trains with him), who said they are getting decent miles, but each run came at the expense of a 3 and 4 day layover. He did say that the FFE O/O's were knocking down decent money, but that it seemed to be at the expense of FFE company drivers and Lisa company drivers expense as well.

A USXpress driver was there also, and said that he and his wife have been hitting 5200 to 5400 miles a week as a team, which he considered sub-standard.
