Congrats on the hire. Don't lease a truck from the same company that employs you. Don't run over anything or anybody - and - best of luck to you...

The "Negative Crap" aka the truth had to fly otherwise the only support and encouragement you guys will get is from bottomfeeding companies who will feed you such a line of crap and fill you so full of b.s. that you will be foaming at the mouth to run their l/p trucks and them not giving a dam if you sink or swim. The only club you joined was CAD. Trucking is sororities and fraternities and most arent taking new pledges. If you think it is bad now wait till the hazing begins.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

Alright, I no longer am employed by CR England. My old company called me back when I finished training so I left England. England was quite an experience. My overall experience was poor. I was a Short Term Trainee or ST. Which meant I had to go out for 7-10 days with a Phase 1 trainer. My actual training time was 17 days as we had to swap a load which prolonged me getting to SLC (Salt Lake City) to complete Upgrade. On top of that I had to wait 6 days after orientation to even get a Phase 1 trainer. It is unbelievable how many new students England gets coming into their terminals every single week. I don't know how long they are going to keep their school running, there are just way too many trainees and not enough trainers. Also there is a shortage of trucks for both Company and Lease drivers, so don't be surprised to wait a few days to get either one. In general, get used to waiting-waiting for trucks, waiting for drivers, waiting for loads, wait, wait, wait. One thing I was not prepared for was how much waiting you do at customers with refer loads. Not unusual to wait at least 3 hours at most customers to get loaded. Hardly any Drop and Hook accounts. Very frustrating.

All you are is a driver code and a truck number, nothing more, and they treat you as that, they don't care if you quit or get fired, they have 10 or 20 guys right behind you to fill your spot.

Yes they pitch their LEASE program alot, but ultimately it is the driver's decision to do it. With the changing economy, the LEASE terms are changing. When I was in SLC, it seemed there were as many people going COMPANY as there were going LEASE. Do what is best for YOU not anyone else.

England as a company is very strong. There is only a small handful of trucking that are still making a profit, C.R. England is one of them. They are HUGE on safety, that will be pounded into your skull from day 1. Your experience with England is what you make of it. I know I will not miss England at all, I will not go back.

I guess it could be another example of some finding things out the hard way.
Myself, I'm still longing for those days again, at least with a company like CRE, you still have all the appropriate tools needed to get the job done with.

Hopefully, in a few years, enough of these cases will be considered a weed-out and those of us longing to get get back into the cab will have a chance once more.

Sitting in the same city you've lived in for the last 20-odd years is for the birds.

I've got to hand it to you mhn. You manned up and had the balls to come back and tell about your experience. You got a crash course in coolie carrier trucking and showed back up to tell about it. That makes you A1 in my book. Kudos to you my friend!

The waiting game with these coolie carriers is something that will never change. It costs them nothing, while costing you everything. It sucks!

I'm more than sure that your willingness to come back here and relate your experience will help many new drivers avoid the CR England mistake.
That alone has made yours a worthy endeavour.

BOL with your new (old) job!

I noticed it wasn't the normal washout for mhn. His old company called him back so he jumped at it before things got reallt bad with him at CRE. He did get a chance to see what he was warned about here so as Belpre said, he can relate that first hand knowledge to others who don't want to listen to the rest of us.

    *England is HUGE on safety...

Lollerskates. and bs. I work for one of the worst out there and I am not even as bad as England (pay wise) Every Company will beat safety into your head, even the outlaw ones. I'm pretty sure that CRE has a very high if not the highest mega carrier crash rate. I've seen it and there is a million ts stories. England like my company must have extremely high turnover rates or their business plan doesn't work. That's why they hire "new" drivers. Cheap labor. <Note the period> If you hire a guy for .08 a mile in training, it would be beneficial to get rid of him and replace him before you have to pay him a wage. That's how they turn a profit. To them and those like them, it is about quantity not quality. Cheap freight and try to have 8-10 trucks in any given area to pick it up and move it. It is a good business plan, if you are the CEO but if you land on the driver side, well... Anyway, congrats on not riding the pain train too long.
