Beacon Transport????

They are out of Nashville, TN. Anyone know anything about them???

I drove for them. They have good and bad points like everyone else... the bad is you will sit alot and you wont make much money. My best week was around 2600 miles.... the worst was 1300. A friend of mine that works there got 600 miles one week... no joke. He sat in Atlanta making small runs all week.

My average weekly miles were under 2000... needless to say I went back local. Pay was pretty much the same.

The good is that its a smaller company (around 100 trucks) and they really do know you by name. Larry (safty/recruiter) is a really good guy and for the most part the two dispatchers are ok (you'll be assigned one or the other). Orientation was a breeze... no road test and if you have a current physical you dont have to take another one.

Hometime is another plus... you tell THEM how long you want off! When you request time off they ask you when you want to come back. It was a nice change from the "1 day off for every 7 out" crap. I live close to Nashville so I was sometimes home weekly (you get run through the terminal a lot).

They primarily run a triangle from South Carolina up to Chicago over to Iowa down to Texas/Lousiana and back to S.C. Thats probably 90% of where you'll be driving. Their biggest customers are Bridgestone and John Deere so be prepared to unload a trailer full of tires by hand.

For the most part they are a pretty laid back company but you sit a lot and the paychecks are a joke.

i've unloaded tires a time or two, loads like that make a young man old. about 1220 in a fifty three. my shoulder was killin me by the time i got to the front trailer.

Yea it sucks... I have carpal tunnel so everytime I had to unload my wrists hurt for days afterward. The only bonus was we got paid around $70 to unload.
