This snippet of that article made me laugh so hard I woke up my co-driver!
Swift Transportation Co. Vice President David Berry said his company has a waiting list of qualified drivers for the first time in his memory. "We're enjoying our newfound popularity," he said.

As I sit looking all around,
Confusion and uncertainty is all I found.
The answers are there,
But I do not know where.
Optimistic and hopeful dreams,
Are all I have so it seems.
The future I do not know,
So all I can do is take it slow.
But I do know it will work out,
So I wait and watch without a doubt.
Quote:"I felt like I was part of a carnival," said the 53-year-old Mr. Hockersmith. "Some of these truck stops are the filthiest places you've ever seen."
It not the trucks stops that are dirty, it's the people who stop there with their poor hygiene habits, that includes truck drivers and John Q Public.
Sorry Mr. Hockersmith, Trucking is a lifestyle not a job.
80 inhouse recruiters? How did they get that many liars together?
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.
I am also glad that Prime finally decided to more closely examine the applications of their applicants.

Im thinking about calling swift and i never thought i would get that hard up.
Windwalker for prez .[
ooida fighting for truck drivers !
I'm seriously looking into retiring. (I've been tired for many years now) That should give the rest of you one more opening. Dispatch is doing some serious scratching around in order to try to keep the drivers moving.
It's not over yet. Banks are still failing. They are up to 16 now, just for this year. And, still more companies are closing their doors. One small company I was at recently, the owner said he dipped into the last of his reserves to keep the doors open, and if it gets any worse, he's going to have to shut down too. And, that's in the food industry.
Of course, if you put "WINDWALKER" in as President in 2012, things will change. (a promise you can count on.)![]()
Destroy the cities...and they will rebuild them.Destroy the farms...and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.
Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...and grass will grow in the executive offices.
The bill has come due.
( R E T I R E D , and glad of it)
I'm surprised you guys aren't attacking the author more. He sort of bashed OTR pretty good there!![]()
He is too easy of a target. I would rather bash on the Swift executive who is enjoying his companies "new found popularity". Lets's see. Drivers are losing their jobs. You are hiring. Of course drivers are going to come to you until they find a job with a better company if and when the economy turns around. Then it will be back to "If you have a pulse, we have a truck".
The gentleman who left Werner because he "felt like he was part of a carnival" but he now drives a city bus? I guess side show freaks dont ride the bus.

So who recruited the recruiters? Did they happen to tell the new recruiters how much more money they would make if they lease purchased their desks?
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.
