    Default Hill Bros ?

Any current Hill Bros drivers on the board...if so what are you getting for miles ? And anyone with info on them please feel free to chime in ...I'm looking for work ,And I have a few offers ,But I'm a little concerned about lack of freight at Conway TL ,and Crete ...So I'm looking into temperature controlled for my next round of OTR ,and despite Hill Bros only paying .32cpm the recruiter is saying 2500-2700 miles can be run now ,and 3200-3500 when not slow ,So if these numbers are close to correct I'll be seriously considering a trip to Omaha .

Cfi/conway is only .36 cpm ...crete is now only .39 ...And I know those drivers are only running 1800-2200 mi wk , Which are the exact miles quoted by Eric at Conwy and Rhoda Priest at Crete ,And I would rather run the miles quoted by Hill bros recruiting than conway/crete ,As it is just more enjoyable be running moderate-hard than slow-not at all . Hill has apu equiped new model T-600/Volvo 780 I think the T-600 might be the better choice as it's much lighter than the 780 so it can haul more loads And I'd be happy at .32 starting if the miles are as good as advertised .

the hill bros are good people to work for.very open door, good equip and all the miles you can run.lot of midwest, west coast. the brother jimmy hill wanted to run east but he has his own company now so he pretty much get's all that.depending where you live pretty much is the decideing factor of the freight you will pretty much run most of the time.small customer base but big customer's.imho way better than crete.but you will stay out about 2 weeks with hill bros, and for 40cpm you could run for marten and would be about the same..worked for both as an o/op and liked both...

True sign of an idiot! You would be happy running for less money just because of nicer equipment and a "promise" from a recruiter. Keep it up Big Creep and you will be nominated for bozo of the year.

You need to learn simple math!

    .39 x 2200 miles = $858

    .32 x 2700 miles = $864

Subtract the two and your gonna run 500 more miles for $6.00 more? that comes out to 0.012 per mile for the 500 extra miles.

Just doesn't make any sense to me!

Hey, some guys would rather run more miles for the same money if they are going to be out instead of sit in a truckstop. Its a personnal choice.

No but he is calling for others to be banned on another thread for personal attacks. Pot to Kettle "you're black"

I have no idea what happened toward the end of this thread, but Jim's blog is at Lease Purchase Journal. He has said on another forum that his miles remained pretty steady through the winter and he does seem to like the Volvo.

My miles (at Con-way Truckload) were pretty bad in December and January but seem to be turning back toward normal. I had my personal best week ending on 2/7/09 (4,236 paid miles) and the wait time between loads has been less lately. If not for a US Xpress driver running over my fender and costing me time in the shop, this past week would have been a decent one too.

The word on the street is that we have something like a hundred people waiting for trucks right now though. Unless you're planning a long introspective period of meditation before you get out on the road, the smaller company paying a few bucks less might not be a terrible idea in the short term.
Reading this blog will make you smarter and/or more attractive.

(The preceding statement has not been evaluated by the FCC.)

Well If Hill bros has the miles to roll 2500-2700 during the slow times and 3200+ when busy then you will make the mileage bonus and as long as you don't have any accidents you will get the safety bonus ,which puts you at the same basic pay as starting at Conway ,and only bout .03 cpm less than Crete , And yep I'd trade .01-.03 cpm for a nice T-600...OR Volvo 780 ,As opposed to riding in a 400k mile old beat Crete century .

I just had con-way truckload in Charlotte call and offer me a job. Seems like a funny thing to do if they have that many people waiting on trucks.

Well I was told with a 2-4wk wait on trucks they bring you to orientation then send you back home until they have a truck for you then send you out to get that truck. I spent wasted time with Conway ,As I was approved for hire ,and set for orientation on the feb 23rd then last minute my recruiter says that they wil not let him bring me on for probably another month.
