Thumbs up jobs for new drivers?

I am a new driver with only two weeks out by myself. I got really disapointed with the way I was thrown into an old truck with the apperance of and even older truck. I am a good driver, safe and made sure my loads got to the destination on time. I know that many companies have good reputations, but I am not aware of which ones they are. The truck I received had not been cleaned in what looked like forever, hence the disapointment I incured. Oh! i did clean it before I took off in it, company paid me $40, for the ten hours my wife and I spent on it.I am hoping someone has information of a company which not only takes care of their employees, but also the equipment that makes the living for them and the driver. I would have been happy to clean the vehicle after I had been driving, as its only right to maintain your own equipment. I went through the four weeks of training, and enjoyed the driving and destinations unknown. Maybe I just expected too much. Someone please enlighten me.
    Thanks alot, Jeff

    Default New Driver Jobs?

What company do you pull for? It's my experience new drivers won't get a new ride. There's a "proving time" a newb may have to deal with. Be happy you got the truck cleaned up in ten hours, my first ride took three days including getting the truck paperwork up to speed. BOL

Nothing worse then starting a new job and they show you the peice of **** youll be using. I worked for a place for 1 day the truck was so freakn bad. Like a 88 mack. I think there was a half eatten sandwich on the floor from 92'. Disgusting how some guys live... My current place now when i started the truck i got was pretty dirty. I cleaned the **** outta it for days at each stop. I maintain and wash it once a week. Now its the cleanest truck in the yard. Dont sweat it theres guys drving for 25 years who are hauling around **** buckets. As long as u clean it up good and she runs good your gold. Some trucks are so dirty that there beyond cleaning and it amazes me people actually think a driver will accept that. Well some would, but certainly not me

Did you really expect to get out of driving school, and with no experience, be handed the keys to a decked out 2009 Western Star?

Arguing on the C.B. is kinda like running in the Special Olympics, 'cause even if you win your still retarted.

You should be lucky the company paid you 40 bucks to clean it. I see alot guys come on here that did what you did and they dont even get paid. I wish you the best of luck. Im sure it will get better.

They probably offered him a "Star", but he didn't want a "high water" truck.

Thanks , pple , there is always some good that comes out of everything, some of you have let me know that there is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. I am not going to talk bad about any company, they are in business to make money and if they can get someone to clean up a truck for 40 bucks I dont blame them. It's me that was stupid for doing it. Older equipment isn't bad. Some are better than the new (****) the companies put out. I never expected a new truck, probably wouldn't want one being new. Thanks for the input, good news for me, just to know lots of people look at what is written. I live in]Jackson Tn. area and am looking for a truck to drive, I would concider a team with a company driver, or shotgun on a O/o , I don't need insurance, just a paycheck. I am clean, careful, and don't like hanging at truckstops except for fuel, and maybe a Pepsi or Dr. Pepper. The job is to drive, thats what i like to do. If anyone out there might be interested I am 51, good health, license, health card for two years license till 2012. I am a smoker and have driven in Mi,In,Il,Tn,Ar,La,Al,Ga,Ky,Nc,Sc,Oh,Tx. This also included big cities in these states. Maybe we have the same characteristics. If you think you might be interested drop me an e-mail at fatboytenn@yahoo.
Thanks again and keep the wheels rollin.
    Jeff
