The company I hauled flatbed for last summer said they would hire me back if I ever came back just call. They also haul propane and fuel and want me to learn how to do that so I'm thinking that as soon as this winter is over we are heading back north.

By the way, its not just me. My girlfriend was the circulation director for 5 magazines under one publisher and the only job she could find down here was working in a Sears for $6.50/hr + commision.

Im sorry man, hats off to you. I could not do it, I would be fired the first time I was lied too. My mouth gets the best of me. These kind of stories just make me relize how lucky I was to get with Superior out of school. +1 for tanks w00t!

I think part of your problem is that eastern NC is sort of a dead zone for trucking. If you had moved to the triad or the Charlotte area or at least west of I85 you'd probably find it easier to get hired. It's also cheaper to live in those areas. But I'm reasonably sure that there are flatbed companies that hire out of Raleigh. I think the company I work for does. Now a lot of these companies stopped hiring over the winter, but if they haven't started hiring yet they will start soon. I work for Boyd, if you want I'll ask if they are hiring.

yeah, I knew eastern NC was a freight-hole and I told my girlfriend over and over that we should move to the charlotte area or down near Florence, SC or somewhere but she was insistent on moving here to be near her daughter so here I am. As I said before, as with the JB job this is self-inflicted. Now I have to get out of it.

I live in Raleigh. Found a job $14/hr with 1.5 overtime. 5 days a week third shift delivering to closed warehouses so I would unload myself. Pick up the loaded trailer, do my run and bring back the empty and go home. Dont know if I'll take it yet. Better than what I'm doing right now thats for sure.
