Why? Gotta be the stupidest damn question I heard all week. I don't know about others, but I just love living in a truck, eating crappy food, working crazy hours, pissing in a bottle and being away from my family. Oh, and I also like to be able to put food on the table, keep the family indoors, pay all the bills, etc. None of which is cheap. Why you people work so many hours for what the job pays is beyond me.
By the way, from what I know about it Epes is a decent company, or at least the drivers I talked to seemed to like it. I know they are home every weekend.
Update on Epes please

I don't know much about 'em, other than a few bits. They're still running Columbia's and Crapcadia's, with some Volvo's thrown in for bad measure. They mostly pull their own dry boxes, but they also have Family Dollar dedicated out of Mathews, NC. I haven't heard anybody griping about them, for what little that's worth. Oh yeah, they also have quite a few o/o's, too.

I was an O/O for EPES back in 99-2001. I found them to be a very decent company. The freight lanes were great as most times you would depart the Carolina area for delivery then pickup and return back to the Carolina area. I have been out of the seat for a few years but would strongly consider going back to wok for them again. I am one of those that drive because I loved it and not because I had too. I am an RN and make about 31.00 an hour and work 3 days a week BUT..I enjoy the time in the truck immensely and also enjoy the folks I meet on the road.
I am sure EPES has changed a bit over the years, but, I believe as a company driver you could SURELY do worse. I think you would like them. If you have what it takes to be hired by them I say they are worth the effort.
That is my 2 cents worth.
