    Default Millis or Transport America

Need help choosing, have offers at Millis and Transport America, have heard a lot of good about both, but also have heard bad about both. Advantage of TA is they pay from day one, ohhh and I have zero experience. So that means millis school, and the 2500 to do so. And at TA just means 1 week refresher orientation, but paid instead of paying 2500. Both pay just about the same on cpm, TA gets better after a year. Just cant seem to decide. TA sounded great but after reading some posts, I am kinda worried about going there.

Sounds to me you are leaning towards ta. Why not go to a truck stop and talk to some of their drivers .

TA solo trucks are only avg 2200 miles a wk atm and only do 62 mph. Just a heads up. I have been with TA for almost 2 yrs and like it but... want to try other things in trucking like pulling tanks.

If you live in NE Georgia - and are concerned about "quality of life' issues-- like being home occasionally-- you got to tip the scale a little ways toward-- Millis? Anyone-- know of TA gets down there-- or has yard there?

I know Millis does just off I-75, and that's a heavy traffic lane for them.

Well ended up choosing Transport America, and will finish training this week, and if I pass the final tests, will be in my own truck by next week. So far everything has been as advertising. My trainer is based up north so we have been running all up there. But I will be based out of the Atlanta Terminal. And best of all I will not owe anything to TA if we part ways like I would have if I went with Millis.

    My personal feelings of TA

90% Great company to work for
5% Crap that just comes with being a OTR driver
5% Stuff I wish they would change but most likely its what I would love but not $$$ poss from a company stand point

All in all I cant complain to much. Their open door policy works and the higher ups call you back and willing to hear what you have to say even if they disagree.

I wish you all the luck in the trucking biz just remember no company is perfect.
