Default DCS (JB Hunt) anyone work for them

Maybe hired to the DCS division of JB Hunt dedicated to the Family Dollar Stores out of Odessa Tx. I live in the San Antonio Tx area and I was told they are hiring drivers that live 50 miles within SA Tx. and I would be home very often on the weekends. I hope JB is truthful also I was told it is hard to get in this division. Hope to read some insight on this. About DCS

I checked into the Family Dollar fleet when I ran with JB and decided not for me. Picture a floor loaded 53' and YOU get the honors of unloading it useing rollers, each and every box will have your fingerprints on it. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer.I find it hard to believe those positions are hard to get into, around here they can't keep them filled!

Werner is dedicated to those Dollar Stores as well. I never ran them. But...I seen and heard, that not only do you finger print each piece, you will work at the pace of the receiving dept, you in the trailer, receivers and the end of the rollers. Frequently they are not the "fastest" at receiving each piece.

Family Dollar stores are almost always in strip centers or (rarely) stand-alone buildings.

If you sign on, I hope you like taking a full-length conventional truck-trailer combination into parking lots not designed for it.

And I hope you don't mind fingerprinting every load.

Thought it was a good idea for a change my next choice is Lane Freight out of Houston Tx. They have a terminal in San Antonio tx and they pull a lot of 57 ft trls. Any insight on this guys.

Edit: Reference to the Lane question!

They only pull 57 footers! With that, they run regional, mostly Texas and Louisiana, some Oklahoma, Lower Arkansas, New Mexico and Colorado!

Freightliner Carappias and a few Century's!~

The owner ops usually get the prime loads, company drivers get the rest. Dispatch use to be through Link America, not sure it is is still, as my buddy went elsewhere that worked for them.

Starting pay was .32/mile, with a cap of .38/mile after five years. Mostly no touch freight!

The few drivers that I have spoke to with them are basically satisfied!

I thought they closed the San Antonio terminal, hmm!

Good thing, well, could be bad! NO Qualcomm! But they can run you like a dog without it to get an impossible load delivered on time!

While doing laundry at pilot a half hr ago, I was speaking to a JB driver.
I really felt bad 4 him not being able to work for a better carrier, when i asked why he is their, he said he had some tickets.
They will send msg via qual com when idle is to high demanding you shut it down. If you dont they then call your cell ph. and if you dont they take you in and make you sit 3 days at a terminal. They do not pay 4 idle air.
I have never had a JB driver identify himself to me, that took alot of courage. If anyone can answer why we do not have a labor board to protect us from being mistreated i would appreciate the input.

I never worked for JB , but the making a trcucking job what you make it is ridiculous ,because you are not going to do well working at a company that screws you everywhere ...now if the driver is a person of low standards then he/she might fit in great grossing $350 -$500 and being hot or cold because the comany doesn't offer idle alternatives ,and won't let you idle to stay cool or warm...basically if a company is truly trash then that's all that will be satisfied working there ...

I don't think that you will find too many takers for that type of debate these days ratface. Excellent question, though................

    ....FAMILY DOLLAR...

I was offered this account at Werner they also offered Dollar General ...They are always looking for new meat on these accounts ...why?...,because they suck ...you unload from a 53ft van with no dock...yes some have lift gates ,which are useless most times due to the ground being dipped ...But the real issues are 140+ degree trailers in the summer and slick icy conditions in winter ...and the danger of falling freight ... Wal-mart dedicted=easy $$$ ...Sears dedicated=easy $$$...
