I have my truck leased to Falcon and I don’t have any complaints so far. I run through one of their agents in East Chicago Indiana. Everyone seems helpful at their main office in Youngstown Ohio that I talked to over the phone, never been there in person though. I loaded next to a company driver in New Castle Pennsylvania Thursday that was driving OTR in a day cab. He was happy with Falcon just wanted a sleeper cab. I guess Falcon pays for a hotel for him every night; driver said it was a pain trying to find a hotel every day with truck parking. I have yet to meet a disgruntled driver, but I tend to only strike up conversations with friendly drivers
They're a joke.
My cousin in Ohio ran a dedicated Chrysler autoparts run from Twinsburg, OH to Belvedere, IL. Low pay, junk equipment, paychecks never added up right, lots of hurry-up and unpaid sitting around. He cleaned his truck out and left.
Most of their van freight is tied to the auto biz, so stay away. I told a bunch of guys here to avoid JDC Logistics awhile back for the same reason but they laughed at me. Well, JDC isn't around anymore.
Falcon has a flatbed division, but I don't know much about that.
Steel. LOTS AND LOTS OF STEEL! The flatbed division use to be known as "COMPASS". They run lots of steel from the mills in the Pittsburgh area. They even have a yard 2 miles from one of the plants. Word around here is that they are the lowest paying of ALL the steel haulers. Something like 23% TOPS.Originally Posted by LBJ
I don’t know anything about the van division, but in the flatbed division as an owner operator I’m paid the same percentage as I was with PGT plus falcon has a productivity bonus and safety bonus and don’t have all the deductions like PGT had. A good rule of thumb is steel mills usually not the best rate because every load goes through PLS for the most part.Originally Posted by Double R
Cummins444,
How much choice do you have regarding where and when you run?
I seem to remember Jagerbomber spending some time there as a company driver. You may want to try the search function, it wasn't working for me.

There is a driver that hangs around the East Chicago terminal almost everyday but has only hauled a couple of loads in the last two months. He turns everything down that they offer him. He doesn't want to go to chicago, but doesn't want to spend the night in the truck.
Thanks for the info. I live in the Nashville, TN area, Falcon has a terminal here. I've talked to some who were happy there and a few who weren't.
Did you get your Cuz a cushy union gig with the outfit you run for???Originally Posted by LeBron James

We had to park them at the yard nad without any notification at all I would show up at work and my truck would either have been re-assigned or taken to another terminal for service never to be seen again. And i had one hell of a time getting paid there, my paycheck was normaly wrong at least 3 times a month and i never even received my final paycheck after i left the company. They arent the worst company out there but they are in the botom half as far as i am concerned.
Yes, watch your settlement statements closely like a good driver should. I have had problems with my settlements. I have been paid for other people’s loads on more then one occasion. I would get a settlement listing driver 1 and driver 2. But payroll seems to be very eager to solve problems. I was missing a load settlement and left a message with payroll with the load order number and when they called back they had already fixed the problem.Originally Posted by whatsmynameagain
I don’t have the problem of falcon reassigning my truck because my kenworth is in my name. Unfortunately that means I have to pay the bills on it.
I drove Van for Falcon. No bad experiences to report. Back then (06-07) you got a $32 a day cash per diem if you were out during the weekend. You could also stay in a motel when running the weekend. Insurance was decent and really inexpensive.
Generally, a good place to work.

Buy the ticket. Take the ride.
looks to me from what i see in nj is there trucks and trailers never get washed. not a good sign
LOW CLEARANCE BRIDGE MEANS NOTHIN TO A FLATBED
I live near Falcon's main terminal in West Middlesex, PA. A guy I went to school with drives for them. I have noticed that the Middlesex yards is literally overflowing with van trailers, it used to be pretty empty except weekends.
The guy I went to trucking school with has been with them about 3-years, he likes the work atmosphere (hometime, closeness to home, benefits, etc), but readily admits he could make more money.
When I quit Superior I looked into Falcon. I guess that was September. The lady told me they are only hiring flatbed drivers. She mentioned something about they fired a bunch of van drivers because they were always late and the company was getting hit with fines. But seeing the yard constantly full of van trailers makes me wonder. I doubt it would be a good gig for someone living in New Jersey, but over here in Western PA and Eastern OH you can buy a house for $30K, so you don't need the real big bucks. Oh, they give you a Blue Beacon wash card everytime you get a PM done. That might explain the dirty truck.
