You guys named Interstate, Knight, Crete, Heartland, Westside and Shaffer as guys using the same "play book". Rather then switch teams switch leagues. Alot of guys hear the word flatbed and say that tarping isn't for me. I talked with a Keen Transport driver who said they can't find enough drivers for moving the big stuff. Hardly any tarping at all from what I have seen. Hauling big stuff isn't that hard. Just need some common sense and patience. You guys might find it more rewarding. I don't work for Keen. Don't live in their hiring area, But if I did I would look in to it.
Don't trust anybody. Especially that guy in the mirror.

    Default Crete - Same as Swift or JB...just a different 800 #

I currently work for Crete. Have been here almost 5 years. The CEO - a.k.a. Tonn Ostergard has turned this company into "Average Joe's Trucking Co." There is no difference than working for any other major company....except we are slower. This year so far, I have had 5 of the 10 months below 10K miles. It's mid Oct. and I haven't crossed 100K paid miles for the year. I sit waiting on freight, more here than any other company in the 15ish years trucking. I talk to Crete drivers, both at truckstops and at the terminals that are in the same sinking ship as I am. And it's not just the economy, they claim they are always short on freight, but every week they are holding 'how to recruit' meetings, begging for trainers, and the orientation classes are always full. If they don't have freight, then why in the *bleeep* do they keep adding drivers. If a few quit, don't re-fill the trucks until freight trends turn positive.... Geeez, I'm not a rocket scientist or a Harvard grad, and I can figure that out. If 50+% of your drivers are sitting and unhappy, how happy are they going to make your customers when there is a delivery issue? It takes forever to get a response over the Qualcomm when you have a question. They can't plan ahead in order to get you home anywhere near the time you ask.

This place use to be a great place to work when Duane Acklie was at the helm(from what I hear, from what few long time Crete drivers are left), but now, it's no different than any where else. Thinking about working here...Think again, and do what I am, look elsewhere...They aren't worth your time!!!
Luck is where preparation meets opportunity
