    Keeper of the Chaos

Moving up to Atlanta or anywhere north should open up a lot of options for companies that hire.

As LBJ said Florida is a black hole that sucks in freight with nothing coming out.

If you both were to get your CDLs you could run as a "hobby" team; only 12-14 hours per day. Many companies offer teams the option to be dispatched as solos.

This contrasts with a hard core sleeper team that would be expected to run flat out when under a load.

. Wouldn't work for me and the wife. I would be in the back of the Walmart delivering, she would be in the front buying it faster than we can unload it. She runs team from home. I actually call her my "mileage acceptability dispatcher." Throughout the week she will ask, "how we sitting on miles and drops?" The answer better be acceptable, or as you can see the acronym for Mileage Acceptability Dispatcher will show thru.

If you insist on going with CRE: Get you training, DO NOT under any circumstances get sucked into their "Fleece-Pruchase" sharecropping scam, do your year and get out.

If you can grind it out 9-12 months you will be in a better spot to hire on somewhere better.

    Ian,

That's exactly my plan. Put in a year, put up with anything and everything, then take a look at my options. The reason I went to CRE was no cash outlay to get started, and a paycheck starts after a month. Money right now is the most important factor in determining which route to go. At this point its a complete life changing opportunity, and I'm ready for that change. Thanks for your input.

Sorry I didn't post sooner. I haven't had computer access for awhile. Just got it back. This sounds interesting. Does anybody else on the board have any experience with this company?

I just checked out their web site. Two questions, if I read it right, you have to have the "N" endorsement permit before attending the school. Is this a written test to get the permit?

Also, can you give me a rough idea of take home pay per week that first year with them?

Thanks everyone for your input. We're still going forward with this I believe. We thought about something else for awhile but it fell through and we took that as a sign that we should just stick with the trucking career.

    Debbie
