Yes the state did give them a grant. But it was only a millon dollors, so Marten could install a few on tractors, and see the benifit of having apus placed on all trucks

I like that......it was only a million dollars  I'd like to get a million dollar grant  can pay for alot of APU's with that kind of grant.

The company is Central Refrigerated Service in West Valley, UT. just got off the phone with a friend of mine whoe USED to work there.

I called the Utah labor commission and asked them if this was legal. They stated the following:

"It is ILLEGAL for a company to charge an employee for fuel (over-idling a truck for instance) IF no written authorization from the employee exists"

If you or someone you know were terminated for not signing the authorization...or had money taken from your pay without written authorization, you can reach the UTAH labor commission:

    160 East 300 South, 3rd Floor
    P O Box 146600
    Salt Lake City UT 84114-6600
    Phone: (801) 530-6800
    Fax: (801) 530-6390
    In-state Toll Free 1-800-530-5090
    laborcom@utah.gov

You might also want to consult an attorney concerning this matter.

Central Refrigerated already has a bad reputation in the trucking industry
for leasing people trucks then not loading the truck enough so the poor "owner operator" hopeful will fail. Now they are trying their luck with this.

Like another guy said: If someone signs a letter allowing an employer to pay for their fuel from YOUR hard work, then you deserve all that comes your way.

Watch your back with these companies and their idle wishes...if you work for gts pay special attention...

i was 100% on time from my hire date of 1/08 to my resigntion ...i ran my logs legal..."ON PAPER" matching time stamps such as fueling...and ran my logs just like gts wants...Well they had no issues with me until june when I started to idle in the 90 degree south ...then they brought me in for idle counciling because i was at 50% ...GTS down loads every sunday and were doing me on thursday as well, this weekly and sometimes 2x weekly down load made it impossible to not have high idle ...I did my best but at GTS the trucks sit for half the week ,which is mostly due to poorly planned freight ,and a csr/planner departent that smokes crack... for exmple a 500 mile ld that can't split or final for almost 72 hrs or a 1200 mile ld that can't final for 5 days or split ...sitting is an epidemic at gts,and unfortuntely for about 50% of the year this requires idiling fo heat or a/c ,so when you only average 1100 miles wk what else is there, but ide time ?... And the messed up part is needing to ..."fix my log book " on an 1100 mile week for inaccuracies when dispatching loads...

The end result they couldn't justify termiation for idle alone ,and coudn't get me to sign a charge back plan...so "all of a sudden" the log depatment decided to match up my log book stated locations to qalcomm history...something...that probably none of fleet woud match including mine...I was given the option to resign or quit ...I obviously resinged , and the gentlemen who axed me is the same who during my orientation told me what time data was needed to write a legal gts log book...and funny thing is during the etire ...exiting process logs was hardly the topic just my idle...But this is the kind of thing a desperate company will do in an attempt to find valid reason to force you out if they have none so there is no legal action or unemployment paid .

I'm glad it happened ,becase i think i would have been there much longer ,because i kept putting off the 700 mile drive home after turning in truck...and i'm thinking of taking a warehouse job here at the cold storage warehouse in golden for coors it's only $14.00 hr but for 40 hrs its more than i made drving at gts, and i do beleive higher education beyond "CDL" school is in line ,beccause from what i've seen 90% of trucking is low pay just like most work not requiring an education.

It's because you agree to sit around for free. If the cost to pay you to sit was greater than the cost to deadhead you, then they'd keep you moving.

Since it's cheaper to sit you and since there's so many drivers looking for work, then you sit. So you idle the truck to keep warm/cool which raises their cost of sitting you. So they just get rid of you and find someone who will tolerate living in a hotbox/igloo for no money. If he/she doesn't work out, they'll fire him/her and get another. And another, and another, and another....

If drivers would ever demand fair pay for their time then 99% of the stuff they bitch about would be fixed and the job would be somewhat decent.

Remember when I told you to get out of c00lie OTR trucking and get that state job plowing snow? Glad you've seen the light...better late than never. OTR blows!!!!

$14.00/hr is a good starting-wage for warehouse work. Use the free time to finally have a life and better yourself and get away from trucking...trucking is a dead-end job. Way too many hours to make a decent paycheck.

cause i got banned, pretty simple. aren't you the guy that tried to get me aggravated about the picture..calling it richard simmons. is that still the best you got, nothing inttellectual to say. just tring to push my buttons and see if i go off and get banned again. i will let you know the truth and only you, so everyone else please do not read any further. i was wanting to see how far you could push before you get banned, because it seemed that lbj, yourself and other would do the same thing i was doiong with personal attacks, but i tend to curse like a trucker. i found out and took some time off, kept reading though. and one day your brother was going on his rants again and i just had too come back...new and improved. do you want to continue this disscussion? or you can try to insult me or angus young...i bet you do nothing more than get yourself aggravated because i could give two ****s what you think about me.
