    Amazing.
Then they say Truck Driver's aren't the sharpest pencils in the box!

I said Drivers complain about hometime ,and Dispacth that don't understand HOS ...which simply means those drivers did not expect to be out 4-6 wks at a time ,and as for the HOS ,I think it's obvious most dispatchers don't understand them when optimal for them not to ,and a new driver mIght log too much line 4 time and too little line2 time when at the docks ,and a new driver may be at odds with dispatch for awhile over them not "understanding" the HOS...

As for the equipment I see nothing great about Automatics infact I'm partial to the stick ...I like the feel of smoothly floating my gears up or down hill and I can manipulate that truck to where I only rarely dead stop ,but if I do it's in neutral with only my foot on break lightly to keep from rolling ,and clutch only to start ...uness on a hill then I'll let gravity roll me until I can float right back in gear ...A good driver can shift a stick effortlessly those that are'nt are easily enticed by the auto ...Now however I do like power windows ,and hate hand crankers ...And I do not,and woud not drive for USX .

Now I would also suggest you read my post again and compare it to what you quoted me to have said, because it does'nt match ,and if you're going to attempt an IQ assault you could atleast try to be smarter than a pencil ,and argue about something that was actually said/typed...ok JR.

    Cool How about US Xpress?

Well I worked for them for 2 years and quit. I worked as a local for a few months then went to 11 western as a solo. The Colton, CA staff were really cool people but there were some problems here and there. I had enough disappointment with the pay and the lack of miles to meet my needs and decided to go to a bigger company. I made $30k in my first year (April to Dec ) and about $28k the next FULL (Jan to Dec) year, completely unacceptable pay.

The equipment is mostly good/new although they constantly have trailer shortages so you spend time waiting on or looking for an empty to get your load which makes you late. The Colton shop seems to only fix essentials and your truck will be in the shop a lot.

I was sent to Utah three times where my return load was stolen from me by another driver because his dispatcher felt who ever could get there first was entitled to the load. The third time that happened to me I drove the next load back to the terminal (it was scheduled for local delivery the following day), dropped it in the yard and turned in my keys. Haven't been back since and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

The per diem plan is a ripoff, the sliding pay is a ripoff. The dedicated accounts are mostly not solid so you will do other runs or starve. They don't seem to know how to setup the dedicated accounts on a definate schedule and they lose a lot of them.

US Xpress is a good company to start with to get experience out of school but don't plan on staying. Get a year there and move on.
    Don't drive angry !
