I was offered a job with SRT in Texarkana and I am to head there on the 25th, so I hope it wiorks out even though I have read some really crazy stuff about them but then again thats how it is with a lot of the bigger companys. If it doesnt work out I will just head HOME, I will keep everyone posted.

I dont either since I didnt need it for transporting cars but when I worked for SYSCO FOODS I had it, needed it because some places use to get CANNED FUEL & BUTANE for there dish warmers and there is one liquid you would never think is FLAMMABLE and it "VANILLA EXTRACT" funny but right on the case they came in & bottles had the big FLAMMABLE SIGN on it. SO this week I will go take the written part for my Hazmat which ist to hard to pass if you read the little book. I will keep you posted.

There's a company called "Davis" ... I think, that is located just south of Starke...right on US 301. They run just the southeast I think. And there is Southpoint that is out of the Winter Haven area... I think they are mostly southeast as well.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

Hey JRHBULL where are you out of? I live in Ocala and I am looking for something to be home on weekends at least. Most everyone I found is out for 2 weeks minimum and home for 2 but that wont cut it I dont want to be out that long, so I am looking for something that will get me home on or about every weekend. I will check out the two that SKYWALKER talked about.

florida rock, bulkmatic and the company i work for energy dispatch hires in that area. i haul fuel for racetrac/raceway. work 5 off2 work 5 off 3. make between $230-$320 a night. bulkmatic pays 24% of loads, 30% on wknds and holidays. florida rock doesnt make as much as we do but not far behind. they have a bad rep but the drivers i talk to everynight in the atlanta area seem happy so check them out. all are home everynight

Well Maybe I am just the lucky one here in Florida.. I got my CDL in November of 2004 and went to work right away with Commercial Carrier Corp the pay sucked at first but by the end of three years I was making $37,000 to $38,000 a year not great but not bad and I had most wekends off and home every night plus the major holidays off. I left CCC to work for UPS Frieght only took me a year of applying to get my foot in the door and started driving right away benifits and pay were great but once the union came in I got bumped to the dock with no hope of driving for at least a year plus. That led me to Florida Rock & Tank I have been here for a couple months and on my own now for three weeks.
I too have heard the negative side of FRTL however I have yet to see it.
They offer supplemental pay for new hires with no experience, my first week on my own they paid me $500 plus my pulled loads which averaged out at $175 each day. the supplemental pay drops by $100 each week giving a driver a chance to get comfortable with pulling fuel. They also have a bonus program that pays 3% of your yearly salary every quarter. For your first year of service you wont see this until your anniversary date, then the bonus program pays off every 3 months with an addtional 3% bonus on your anniversary date, so that adds up to 15% bonus pay through out the year if you have no screw ups or incidents, at 50,000 a year that is a potential of an extra $7500, not bad in my eyes. the medical / dental benifits (BCBS) and additional insurance / CDL- family lawyer programs are costing me roughly $70 a week. Judging from my early pulls as I have yet to finish the 5 week supplemental pay program I think I will gross any where from $900 to $1200 a week depending on my loads.
As far as my boss he is easy to talk with, the dispatchers seem fine all they want is for you to do your job (imagine that) the mechanics have gone through some changes recently soooo you just need to cover your ass and pre and post trip at all times, write it down and follow up.
I quess my point is you get out of your jobs what you put into them. People tell my I was foolish to leave UPS Freight and that was the job I hated most. People laugh at CCC with thier 60mph trucks (now turned down to 57mph) and I really enjoyed that job. And now with FRTL I am hearing all the bad reputation people say they have, but at the same time I also hear not many companies have the bonus programs like we do our the extra benifits that we have and as I said I have yet to see any bad with this company. or better yet no worse then any other comany out there...
A job is a job as long as it pays the bills..
