    Default Poly Trucking Question

I applied to Poly but they don't seem to be very communicative. I don't even know if they actually received my application. Does anyone know what their deal is there as far as processing new applications? Does anyone know "anything" about Poly? So far they are like a ghost company. LOL

    Thanks,
    Mad Hog

Just wondering...Your avatar has you living in Oregon. Are you planning on moving to eith TX (Dallas or Houston areas) or Pensacola FL?? Seens to me..unless you live in either one of those areas...or along one of their primary routes, like I-30 in Arkansas...your in the wrong area for them. Their primary business is hauling their own product out of the plants in either the Dallas area..the Houston area..Pensacola..or New Orleans areas.

Yes...they go into the PNW....but they don't park their equipment there.

He lives in a great place for Poly-- can't tell you how many Poly trucks I saw in Idaho- Mountain Home- Pilot and all up and down I-84 into Oregon- they have a major CostCo national account and then they backhaul to Henderson, NV. and also back to Mn & DFW.

But, yeah like he's discovering-- they are not currently in Need-- they are small and have little to no turn over.

1st application I sent in-- jus set there in a pile. then the second 6months later-- made it to the request for dac & mvr + finally a phone interview with the recruiter-- from there-- if all checks out so far-- it goes to the Hiring Manager's stack of applications.

I'm almost sure-- cost of fuel & HOME location is the real KEY to being useful to them. I'm neither-- close to one of there PLANTS nor close to any of their customers or even ON a freight lane. I'd be last in a stack .

HB...... I already knew that Poly runs into the PNW. I also know that they backhaul about half their own supply product, like paper out of the mills in Skania OR and Potlach ID.

My point was, that Poly isn't going to be wanting him to have their equipment sitting in the PNW for 2-3 days hometime...or during vacation. They do utilize their OTR equipment down here to get local work done. Probably their largest growth segment as far as trucks are concerned is in the "local" market.

Just in the last week (vacations are great for sightings) I have seen 5 new roll-off units..new tractors and trailers..while their older units are still in service. 2 of their OTR drivers live in this (Orange/Bridge City) area and park their rigs at the Walmart in Bridge City, while doing HT. They do a lot of Orange to New Orleans van work, when they are called upon to do so.

They do a lot of roll-off stuff on the Gulfcoast. Orange to Houston, Orange to New Orleans area, Orange to Pensacola, Houston to NO & Pen...and vice versa. Poly picks up recyclable plastics from DuPont, Invista, ChevronPhillips, Firestone, ExxonMobil...and on down the list.

If they jump into the "Packaging Tape" business...they will have even more work for drivers.....down this way..and in the Carolinas.

Now...if someone is willing to relocate thenselves to get a job..and doesn't mind "desert" scenery, here is a decent prospect. I'm guessing Groendyke is not filling the bill.

Yeah, you're right too- I been sighting Poly trucks-- heavy on I-10 Texas-Louisiana and up & down i-81 Va. But the one's I talked to-- cited a very generous home time policy.

Actually I am relocating to Las Vegas next month, so the Henderson facility would be very close. Can't make any headway with the app at all. You begin to wonder why bother? I talked to one of their drivers up in Portland and he has been there awhile and loves it. Working 3 weeks/mo he is bringing in 60K and he said that if you want to work more than 3 weeks you would be close to 80K. Anyway, maybe it's not meant to be. Got accepted with Central Oregon Trucking out of Terrebonne, OR flatbedding, and they have a loop in Nevada. Will probably go there. I am currently with Hendrickson and they are clearly close to shutting their doors. Drivers are leaving like birds and the new drivers don't have a clue. They won't give you any more than 1500-1800 miles a week and consistently make you sit and then just swap loads so you won't get any miles. It's a sign of the times and you would really go broke staying there.

    Ever Onward!
