If you haven't driven in a year, there are a lot of small fleets that can work with you, most big carriers won't

If you haven't driven in a year and need training still, you're going to have to go back through a refresher course. The big boys won't take you without one, the small carriers normally won't take you unless they can hand you the keys and be done with it.

can you name some small fleets?

i'm not too too bad..i'd say maybe an extra week and i'll be good.

but like i said schneider wanted to take me but they want me to drive 3 hrs to school in my own car, and seeing as gas is $4 a gallon, i'm not doing that..

    so any suggestions for companies?

There are literally thousands of small fleets out thers, far to many to name. Check the papers and you'll find some close to you. But you are going to have to look harder to find one willing to give you a week of training.

Schneider may well be your best option. If you want it bad enough, you'll suck it up and make it happen. Look at it this way, right now you're sitting home making nothing. The cost of gas for that three hour ride is a damn lot cheaper than than the income you are losing by sitting home.

Then you're probably right. I know it can be hard, but try being a little positive - it'll make a difference if you go in filling out an application with a better attitude.

I realize this might cost you some gad money (and frankly you're gonna have to suck up on that concept) but tryt an internet search of the largest town near you. Not sure where you live in Wisconsin, but maybe try Green Bay, Madison or Milwaukee. I know when I lived in the land of beer and cheese there was almost always something posted in the Milwaukee Gerbil.

Then your screwed. Most of the companies around here will deny you. I was going to suggest my company but the supension and the accidents would disquify you. Try Waste Management(not a joke) and see what they can do for you.
