    Default Stevens Trucking OKC, OK

I'm looking at signing on with this company friday and was wondering if anyone had any info. (Note this is not to be confused with Steven's Transport out of Dallas.)

From what I've been told it's .30 cpm to start. They have all Cornados with APU's and refrigerator's and the trucks are not governed. This comes from a driver I have known for a while, but figured it's best to bounce it off anyone here to see if they know for sure.

I've got 2 1/2 years experience, and I don't mind miles. My time in a slow truck taught me one thing for sure and that's keep that left door closed.

you talk as if this is a bad thing?
Seriously though, it will be legal, at all times. I've never gotten a log ticket and don't plan on starting now.

I don't pass judgement, I leave that up to the individual driver. But I do tend to point out that such things are possible so a driver can go in eyes wide open. There is a tendency in this industry, and on this board, to pretend that everyone runs completely legal and that everyone is a saint. I think some people fall for this. They start out driving for a mega-carrier with zero tolerance rules (like the companies that force you to log on duty and trash your 10 hour break because you fired up the truck and drove it 100 yards across a shippers lot.) Then, they hear similar stories from everyone else, and hear the lie many like to tell that everyone is legal. It becomes easy to believe that that is just the way it is. Then a driver moves on and finds himself working for a company where you've got to play the game a bit to get the job done, or worse for a straight up outlaw shop. Can be a bit of a shock for some drivers, so I figure it's best to give them a heads up.

Incidentally, legal is kind of relative, if you choose to take that view. I never got a log book violation... on any of my log books

daylight your 100% correct most drivers who move to the smaller companys from the mega carriers are in for an eye opener as far as logging in the real world the trucking companys here in okc not many megas here want you to run hard (freymiller midcon westrn flyer wa****a fr.) but you love working for small companys or you hate it i would never work for a mega carrier but thats me

I did some time with mid-con as a local driver with occasional out of state runs. Believe me, my logbook works for me not the other way around.

The Classic Log book scenario :

You wake up at a truck stop around 5 am

and head down the road 20 or 30 miles

to empty out at the final stop.

Takes them about and hour or so to complete the unloading.

You press Ready for Dispatch....and wait...

    and wait..

    and wait...

Finally around 3 or 4 that afternoon you are given a load...

...by the time you get to the shipper 120 miles away

and loaded its 10 pm at night...

the load delivers 500 miles away for a 12 noon delivery the next day.

    ...this is real world trucking

its not that one wants to be an outlaw...it just turns out that way

If you dont take the load you get no miles....if you refuse the load after hitting 'Ready' you will quickly wear out your welcome with the truck company..if you crash and kill some one you will rot in prison.

    The list is endless...

What you say Zipy46 is true. 8)

However, accepting the load nowadays gets you miles...maynot a lot of miles...but miles nonetheless.
