Sad day for the employees and their families. Hopefully something positive will occur for everyone affected by this.

Hmmm is right. I thought they had a niche in the LTL freight. LTL freight has been getting more and more popular so this is surprising. Didn't the guy that owns New Century originally start Jevic and then sold it and started New Century ? 8) 8)

Another one bites the dust. I'm sure that won't be the last one.

    Wow...that's a big one.

Rev is right, though. There will be more. Jevic just happens to be one of the bigger players in the field...or happened to be.

They shut down 4 terminals last month in a cost cutting move. I'm surprised they decided to shut the whole thing down this quickly.

1100 Trucking company with 1200+ drivers......

On the upside, the drivers they had most were very safe and professional which is a positive in today's job market.

The website say's they will continue operations, to clear the already enroute freight out of their system...but look at the employee page; http://www.jevic.com/employee/Dear_J...oyee%27s1_.pdf

Would you continue working, after knowing that your benefits have already stopped?

I guess all in all...They are doing this better than a lot of companies have done. they are seemingly providing employment assistance, for movong on...but time alone will tell.

Ironic, the button towards the left says "Moving Freight Smarter". Should have been moving it economically. I wonder if the higher ups will get a severence package?

    Wow!

    That's too bad.

    Additional info: http://www.jevic.com/news/40/73.html

Also explains the text message my boss sent me to immediately inform him of places that Jevic delivers to / picks-up from. Bad news travels fast.

Rumor has it that a smaller carrier in Wisconsin -- Koschkee Transfer -- has recently gone-out-of-business as well. Haven't been able to verify that yet.

From what I understand Koschkee has closed. They have been dragging one foot for a long time tho.

Stoughton Trucking is suppose to close in June or July also.

I dunno, koschkee looked like they've had 1 foot in the grave for a while.
And stoughton trucking? Dang. I don't know those drivers, but I know one of their customers, cuz when I drove for SNI we had an account with the same customer. I wonder if SNI will pick up the slack.

That's a shame...evidently I live on one of their lanes because I used to see at least five of their trucks every day.

They say they will continue operations until all the freight is out of their system...well if an employer to me to continue working after the day my benefits stopped I would tell them where they could stick it, then walk away.

No way would I continue working for a company knowing I had no benefits.

Wow, this is shocking! Living in the Northeast i used to see Jevic running a lot up and down the 95 corridor. I used to hear great things about working for them. It's shocking to hear about the closing so fast! I give all employees my best wishes.

Root, I still see those UPS flatbeds about every other day in VA. Can't miss those ugly things going down the road.
