    Default Prime and Mexican truckdrivers

Seems they're bringing a bunch of Mexican wanna be truck drivers up to their yard at SLC. They're teaching them the words for the signs and installing GPS systems that speak both English and Spanish. They're giving them the answers to the questions on the test they have to take. Kind of reminds me of the trucking company that just got into trouble for almost the same thing.

Seems they can drive 3 weeks and then go home for 2 days and stay legal. Or at least that's the story.

They're also turning their company trucks down to 58 and telling their drivers to log 68.

I wonder how many other "big" companies are doing the same thing.

I ran into one just yesterday fueling in Wa. Had a piece of paper with an address, pointing at it and shrugging shoulders. Tried to communicate but no go. Signed "call dispatch" but that didn't work (guess dispatch didn't speak Spanish) In a way I feel sorry for these guys. Recruters, that speak Spanish go down there and promis them the world then they get here and find it sucks and also that the Peso is about equivelent to the dollar right now.

You have a source for this? Something more substantial than "a friend" or "you heard on the CB"?

Without a credible source, all we have is grade-A trucker bullcrap not worth responding to.
Some people are like slinkies; they're not really useful but they're a lot of fun to push down the stairs.

Also Ahtumbreez these guys are not "Wanabe" truck drivers. Have you ever driven down there ? About 20 years ago I took a load into Mexico city, that was when it was still safe to drive their roads, there were no bandiditos trying to hijack them every 10 miles. But didn't need the Banditos, the roads are s@@t. 15 miles from their capitol was on a 1 1/2 lane gravel road that made Donner look like North Platte Ne. Sure they don't speak the laungage but most of them, if they were drivers down there, will be able to out drive you.
When I crossed the border the border guard said " do you have a gun ?", being accostomed to going into Canada said no. He said "3 blocks down on right, give you a good deal"

I'll buy that.....When I was there a couple years ago,,we were told to take whatever states speed limit minus 2 mph and divide that into miles driven in that state to get our "time driven".....

Everyone is driving slower these days. I read your other post Big Tex. Considering a company job that pays 2200 for 2 weeks is OK, but that certainly doesn't put you in a position to laugh at other truck companies. Everybody in this industry is suffering or will be in short order.

Everybody is not suffering. We are still hauling $3.50 a mile freight and can't keep up to the demand and are having to turn business away.

Wow , I must now say Prime has taken the top spot from England as the worst large carrier . 58 mph is unsafe , there will be many more accidents caused by these "rolling roadblocks" then there would be if they just went 63 to 70 like everyone else .

As far as the Mexican drivers , I hope it's untrue . The lack of courtesy and respect they show is enough to irritate the hell out of me , not to mention the theft of our jobs .

Thats no joke! I had a piece of equipment hauled by prime on a flatbed and the driver spoke zero english. I had to be on the phone with a dispatcher who was speaking spanish to the driver because he was lost. After unloading him he proceeded straight past a huge red exit sign and drove straight into the nursery where people were shopping for trees and plants, I said to myself "this is my competition".

Prime is pretty much an outlaw company! I had a friend who USE to drive for them. She told me she hated it but Prime was her foot in the door since she lived in Springfield at that time. She is now with CRST.
