    Default CRST Malone

I'm assuming you're a newb, if not, never mind. Malone is an open equipment O/O company, don't know the ins and outs with CRST 'cause CRST had their own open equipment division awhile back.

Yep, I’ve talked with one of their agents in Gary, IN. I have been thinking about leasing my truck and trailer through them to haul steel. Just wondering if anyone had good or bad things to say about them.

I've talked to at least a dozen malone drivers while waiting in line to get loaded at several different shippers in the past couple of months. From what i've seen there are two types... the one who has been leased with them less than 6 months, and can't wait to leave, or the guy who has been with them much longer and is also talking about leaving. Maybe 1 or 2 of them had ANYTHING positive to say about their state of affairs at that moment. They arguably have the most aggressive recruiting campaign of any of the flatbed o/o carriers... all of this information combined tells me alot about the quality of the job.

Any of these big companies you could lease with will obviously have their pros and cons, but I can honestly say that Malone would probably be one of the last places i'd pick.

I 2nd the recruiting campaign for CRST in any of their divisions in general. I almost went team with CRST Van Ex when I started but luckily I listenend to what was said and did not go their. It is not that their recruiters promise you the world but take my world " they know how to sell what they are given." My advice is to luck elsewhere because I'm sure you can do better.

I have looked at alot of flatbed companys and talked to alot of drivers. The company I'm looking to hook up with is Mercer, they just look like the best fit for me and I keep hearing good things about them. Have a look at there site. I'm still running a company truck ( Pneumatic ) tank. Just waitting for things to pick up before I sign on.

Hey, Jokerpop, when are you gonna' make the move? Things are moving pretty good now considering the state of the economy. Summer is the time to make it in the flatbed segment.

Yes you are right, but I had a little set back. 2005 Tax and I have spent /sent my trailer money to the IRS. I'm going to call Mercer and talk to them about a trailer. Mercer FSC is set at .60 cpm and I'm thinking/hoping I can make it with what's in the Bank. Going to sell the Panhead to put more money in the bank, just to be safe.
