All the carriers have gotten slower and/or more picky.

All else being equal more companies will pass on someone with an iffy MVR today than 1-2 years ago.

Well, isn't that some bad news.
Eventually, things will pick up again, and then level off further down the road.
My accident is pretty much keeping me out of the game for now, but I stay focused on getting back in like a bad habit.

Depends on the terminal. My terminal actually has increased hiring. We just signed up a couple new accounts in the area.

Yes they are hiring because I was just given the ok to attend orientation after being pre-hired after submitting my application there again while out on the road this last 2 months ... Only problem I'm having is getting current employer top route me by a terminal so I can turn truck in , which has not taken place yet , so I'm goong to have to call my recruter kim asgain ,and tell her I have no idea when I can attend orientation , because I have no idea when I'll be swung through a terminal and releived of my responsibilty to truck or truck/load ...but yes they are hiring ... They are also supoosed to stasrt phasing in Peterbilt 387's in place of the colvo 770's they currenly have...Which I like that idea as I love the 387 ...I love the Volvo 780 ,but that thing is ridiculously heavy .

Knights policy is that is they have a truck, then it better have a driver in it. Even if they don't have the frieght to support the drivers.

I remember being in portland when they had over 30 trucks waiting for a load, and only 8 loads going out over the next 2 days. We where all laughing because they had a rather large group in orientation who had no idea that ol knight didn't have any loads for them once they jumped into their shiny red truck.

Washington and Oregon suck for outbound freight. That is one area worth avoiding. I went up there twice with Knight, fortunately my FM knew the problems with freight coming back out and had me booked for loads before I even had the inbound ones picked up.

With Knight, unless things have really changed, if you live anywhere east of the rockies you should stay east of the rockies. A lot more freight and a lot easier getting back home.
