I bet that Covenant management was happy about that 'exposure.'
I saw that too. And it's a reflection on Covenant more than the driver. That guy had a rapsheet a mile long...with priors for drug use, pedophilia, etc and Covenant Transport...the supposed "Christian" OTR company with all the pro-life ads on the back of their trailers...STILL hired him.

Actually, it's a reflection on the entire OTR industry at large. You get what you pay for: nobody wants to work for these flea-bag cut-rate outfits so they have to scrape the bottom of the barrell for drivers. Just walk through any big truckstop and observe all the fine, upstanding citizens milling about. How many pedophiles, ex-cons, thieves, felons, drug addicts, etc are you associating with? Remember, you're judged by the company you keep. That's why nobody will hire you with "over-the-road truckdriver" on your resume.

A couple years back, someone wanted to build a new truckstop around here. Alot of residents were against it, and one of the issues that led to its defeat was that there would be a greater risk of pedophilia and child molestation with all the interstate truckers rolling through. Sad to say, that's how the public thinks of truckers.
LOL...LBJ...you are so full of yourself.

How many ex-cons, pedophiles, theives, felons, drug addicts, etc, does the company YOU work for employ? I do not mean just drivers either. How many mechanics, secretary/clerks, managers working at the same company as you, that are in the categories you list? In fact....how many priests/pastors/clergy, in your neck of the woods qualify as some of the above?? Yes..there are clergy of religions, other than Catholic priests, whom are molesters.

Personally...I have as much use for most people in the categories that you list...as you do. However...I try not to lump every person I see walking on the street, sidewaalk, lot...whatever, into a disgusting category.

As to the ignorance of the people in the Northeast, when it comes to denying permits for a company or business to build a truckstop...so OTR drivers can get rest, food, and fuel...well......I have no use for those people either....they are not worth spit on a sidewalk in my book.

Yes there are priests, secretaries, doctors, lawyers etc engaged in such activity. I won't deny that. But if you watched the Dateline program in regards to the Covenant driver...he was an ex-felon with DRUG and CHILD MOLESTATION priors!!!! Which means Covenant knew about his background and hired him anyway!!!!!

Other OTR companies routinely hire ex-cons, felons, etc. It's because they can't find enough law-abiding citizens in the labor pool to work for their low wages and crappy working conditions.

And no, I have not worked at any company before or since that will hire ex-felons with priors. Didn't mean to step on toes, but facts are facts.

I read some of the stories on Rip Off Report regarding Covenant. It seems that I have read relatively little about Covenant's nefarious activities on this board.
It sounds as if one must enter a strange world when arriving at Covenant for school/orientation. To include; A company owned motel complete with Covenant employees routinely searching through personal belongings. A bible thumping preacher called "grapefruit head" providing Christian indoctrination. HUH???? I've either missed most of the posts about Covenant, or, they must just be so bad that it isn't even worth discussing here.
After reading a number of stories about Covenant. I was reminded of an infamous ex-resident of Indianapolis. Religious zealot/drug addict Jim Jones and his followers over in Jonestown, French Guyana. I think that I would be pretty careful about drinking the purple Kool-Aid in the company cafeteria there......................

I trust you have some documentation to back up these "facts".

That is the Prime lease purchase program, and it is their truck. The driver is only renting it.

Did I say that? Don't think so. I was simply commenting on what I had read.
Covenant may be the best company in the world for all I know.

uh huh. they confuse that buy setting up companies named success leasing, swift leasing etc.
if these big outfits cared for drivers they would advise them to save up a down payment instead of raping them before they have been out a few years.

As long as drivers keep doing the lease purchase thing, companies will keep offering it. Easy money for them if people keep falling into their scheme.

Why would these "big outfits" care about their drivers? When push comes to shove, they are going to turn a profit any way they can. If these people who sign up for these programs are foolish enough not to look at the numbers, then it isn't the fault of these companies for taking advantage of that ignorance.
