    Default Hunt or Swift?

Question: If you wanted to start into the intermodal or dedicated part of trucking and you had 2 large carriers being Hunt and Swift, would you go with Hunt or Swift and why?

Here in Portland, OR both companies have fleets in both divisions that is why I am looking at both to get some experience and a JOB.

Go with the one that pays more. That is about the only difference between the two that I know of.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

It's not always about the money people.............How about working for a company that offers respect to the driver, treats the driver right, is high on safety, compliance, reasonable trucks and freight.
Money is not and never should be the only reason to work or do anything in life.......... Jesus, it makes me mad every time someone puts money up as the most important item for taking a job.........
Yes, it's important, you have a family, bills and all, but it's not the number one thing to consider!

Picking between Hunt or Swift is like picking between syphilis or herpes.

I AGREE with you here.I can speak for swift where they have no respect for their drivers at all.Dispatchers, managers treat you like nothing. The pay is pretty bad too. There were a few drivers making less than at Macdonald at swift.I didn't believe them until i saw my $230 payckeck in one week. What i don't feel sorry is that i took advantage of their training. That's about it.My advice is that don't expect to much from these crap companies where their only survival is trough hauling cheap and paying their driver nothing.

Believe me, gentlemen, I really don't want to go with Swift. I still have a bit of pride in me. Just want to get back to driving and break into the intermodal freight. JB isn't much better with rates ranging from .32 to .36 1/2.

Might as well look for King Solomon's mines, the lost city of Atlantis, the fountain of youth, Ameila Earhart, Jimmy Hoffa, or a Cubs world series pennant. Your odds would be much higher.

Why has it got nothing to do with either hunt or swift? It's how the question was placed, as in life, most people only look at financial, as I stated, there are other factors in life.........It's the same if it was schneider or warner, crete or england...... If you can't see past the question, then there's no hope!
as for hoping to find any of the mentioned humans, call it my never ending hope, that for just one day, or one hour, we could agree that the only way to improve life on the road, is for every driver, regardless of status, o/o l/o or company, is that we all stand together, run compliant and look after each other out there!

    ROFLMAO That's a good one!

If there are no other options I'd go with JB Hunt. A friend of ours ran for them (dedicated) and did really well with them.
Check out my MySpace page or my hubby's (kj4aqt.org) - the last one has hundreds of pics which I took going down the road. Enjoy!!
