I'm curious as if anyone has comments on this Refridgerated Carrier.

{1} Do they run there Drivers coast to coast.

{2} Are they running only Pete 387's now ?

{3} Are the Trucks Governed at 65 mph it seemed the were ?

{4} Do they run long haul or kinda Medium lenght runs I.E ( 700 TO 900 miles appox)

I'm aware of someone that contributes to this Forum that run's for this transportation Co.

{4} Are there tractor's optioned out or not? I-E do they have carpet Etc?

any feedback would be appreciated from a drivers perspective Thanks ? 8)

Yes, there are a few loads that are true coast to coast runs that pick up in let's say Massachusetts and go out west. Most long freight is something coming out of Ohio,Illinois, states that aren't right on the coast.

{2} Are they running only Pete 387's now ?
Most new trucks are 387's, Columbia's, and a few T-600. Other trucks are Volvo's, 379's. W-9's are about gone from the fleet.

{3} Are the Trucks Governed at 65 mph it seemed the were ? That's a big 10-4

{4} Do they run long haul or kinda Medium lenght runs I.E ( 700 TO 900 miles appox)
A great deal of our freight is in the 600-1200 mile range. A few 500-600 mile trips here and there. Under 500 miles I rarely see. And a decent amount of trips over 1200 miles. I would say out of 10 trips 7-8 of them are under 1200 miles right now.

I'm aware of someone that contributes to this Forum that run's for this transportation Co.

They're nothing special but I wouldn't say they're junk. Just middle of the road trucks. There's no carpet but most trucks don't. It's a pain to keep clean. It's easier just to wash down the rubber floor. I have a nice fluffy bathroom rug in front of my bed, that way I can take it out to clean it and just replace it when it gets too raggedy. I'm very pleased with my truck. The only thing I don't like is the 9 speed auto top 2 tied into the cruise control switch never does what I want it to do transmission  The 387's are the only ones with these 9 speeds. The rest have 10's and 13's. Just about all the trucks have an APU on them. Eventually they all will.

I ran for JOHNCOX out of Avon, NY. numerous years back, TK THE TRUCKER you've probably heard of them. there down unloading at Wegman's all the time, At the frozen & Deli docks, with Ol'e Paul Marshall & Lott, from Ithaca.

I was wait'in for ya to chime in and THnX for the concise INFO.

Ya there is only a Few O/O Opted carriers out there anymore, like White Farms Trucking out of Doniphan, Ne. Meat haulers that run the Pete's U see out on 80 all the time.

One thing more if U will how do they get Ya to orientation & were is it ? do they pay ya, ? 8) :?:

They do orientation at all the terminals now. Mondovi,WI, Indy, Forest Park,GA, Wilsonville,OR and Ontario,CA. Out of New York usually it would be at Mondovi or Indy but it depends on where available trucks are and how many people are attending. They fly you to orientation but you're on the hook for the cost if you resign or terminated within the first 6 months. For me from New York to Mondovi with 2 layovers it was about $400 or so.

Next week I'll be at .395 cents per mile. It's decent to me. It's would be nice if it was a little bit more. I was here almost 2 years then ran local for 1.5 years then came back 6 months ago. My driving record took a beating while I was local so I was happy to be able to get rehired and make slightly more than when I left.

Oh yes, I see Johncox running around Kraft also. I was thinking of contacting them as a back up company after I get back a solid year of OTR without any damn tickets. 8) 8)

I haven't been getting out there as much as I'd like. My grandmother lives north of Palm Springs and it would be nice to see her. I'm gonna start getting on my fleet manager's case soon about getting out west more often. I know we have enough freight going that way that I should be heading that way a lot more than I am right now. 8) 8)

I'd look at DOT Foods if you want to do reefer. They start at $.47/mi. guaranteed first year. It appears that their runs are regional. I drive by their Cambridge City, IN terminal every day.

Thanks, ya I'm headed home in a few days to get my TA out of winter storage. I had to buy tires for it ($650  ) so I can get it inspected and the registration renewed. From what I hear New York has this thing now that if you don't have an inspection on file (that gets sent from the station at time of inspection) they won't let you renew the registration. Due to the tires and some environmental equipment let's just say I don't have an inspection on file 8) 8)

Do they still expect the driver to pay for the truck wash?

Do they still pay $1.50/load to scale out?
...another place, where the faces are so cold
I'd drive all night just to get back home

No, they don't expect you to pay for the truck wash. They also don't expect you to wash the truck. There are wash bays at all the terminals if a driver wants to wash their truck. However, in the summertime they do the "Match Game". If you check the temperature on the bills and it is different from the dispatch temp, you contact your fleet manager right away and they will give you a Tchek for $25 or send you a Tchek for the amount of the truck wash wherever you choose.

No, they recently changed it. They will send you a PO for the amount of the scale if you needed it. If you scale a 30,000 lb load don't expect to get a PO as the scale was unnecessary. With the air gages I don't usually scale anything under 42,000 unless I really think the bills are off. If I'm full of fuel I just run the gage on my tractor close to my 34,000 lb mark and call it good. Anytime I've scaled to double check myself no further action was needed and I wasted time and money on a scale. 8) 8)
