Has Knight slowed down their hiring of drivers ??
All the carriers have gotten slower and/or more picky.
All else being equal more companies will pass on someone with an iffy MVR today than 1-2 years ago.

Well, isn't that some bad news.
Eventually, things will pick up again, and then level off further down the road.
My accident is pretty much keeping me out of the game for now, but I stay focused on getting back in like a bad habit.
Depends on the terminal. My terminal actually has increased hiring. We just signed up a couple new accounts in the area.
I know the Gulf Port terminal is hiring. I start orientation on Tuesday.
Yes they are hiring because I was just given the ok to attend orientation after being pre-hired after submitting my application there again while out on the road this last 2 months ... Only problem I'm having is getting current employer top route me by a terminal so I can turn truck in , which has not taken place yet , so I'm goong to have to call my recruter kim asgain ,and tell her I have no idea when I can attend orientation , because I have no idea when I'll be swung through a terminal and releived of my responsibilty to truck or truck/load ...but yes they are hiring ... They are also supoosed to stasrt phasing in Peterbilt 387's in place of the colvo 770's they currenly have...Which I like that idea as I love the 387 ...I love the Volvo 780 ,but that thing is ridiculously heavy .
They're ALWAYS hiring.
Knights policy is that is they have a truck, then it better have a driver in it. Even if they don't have the frieght to support the drivers.
I remember being in portland when they had over 30 trucks waiting for a load, and only 8 loads going out over the next 2 days. We where all laughing because they had a rather large group in orientation who had no idea that ol knight didn't have any loads for them once they jumped into their shiny red truck.
Washington and Oregon suck for outbound freight. That is one area worth avoiding. I went up there twice with Knight, fortunately my FM knew the problems with freight coming back out and had me booked for loads before I even had the inbound ones picked up.![]()
With Knight, unless things have really changed, if you live anywhere east of the rockies you should stay east of the rockies. A lot more freight and a lot easier getting back home.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.
I am driving for Knight.....er actually sitting waiting for a load.
This really sucks. I want out now
What happens in Vegas >>> never happened
I lasted a weekend w/them +quit back in late 03.
Phoenix terminal is run by the whole Knight(brady)bunch family.
Knights sons +family run that joke of a company,+there was all kinds of hate going around in the class house there w/upper managment.
If you can dont even bother w/them.They are a joke+their trucks only go 62 miles per hour+and they treat exp drivers like **** aswell. But I guess some people got to start some where I guess.
I survived with Knight for 3 weeks in October of 2007. Freight should have been good but in those 3 weeks I did five 34 hour re-sets. Not only that, the company is small enough that they really babysit you.........
I parked one night and got up the next day, after my pre trip I took off and right away my QC beeped telling me that I did not take a full 10 hour break......
actally it was like 9 hours and 45 minutes or something.....
also, whenyou do a 34, if the truck moves even a foot....Imean even if you move it across a parking lot.....QC beeps and says WHY IS YOUR TRUCK MOVING !!! It was ridiculous....run away....don't walk, run......
I spoke with a Knight driver about a week ago at a truck stop and he was turning his truck in.....he said he spends way too much time sitting.....
Moral of the story......do your research before you jump in....
BOL to you
Actually Knight babysits you so close that they should advertise the paperless log system like Werner.....it might as well be![]()
Hey all. I am with Knight. Only been here 1wk shy of 2 mos. but so far they have been pretty good to me. they keep me running most of the time concidering freight has been bad for some time now. I am home every other weekend and iam averaging 5500mi per outing. as for babysitting that probably depends on your terminal and how your logs look.
I regularly stop outside of town the night before and drive in the next morning and show I was there the night before. there has been no problem doing this. They do tell you to turn all logs in as you do them with trips. but our safety Dir was on the phone the other day and I herd him saying out of 200 drivers 100 were missing 10 or more logs and 50 were missing 15 and 10 were missing 20. If a driver was one of them you can bet they are going to babysit them because they know they are hiding something. also was told they dont compare logs to Qualcom unless given reson to. Knight grades your logs every month kind of like school. In order to get your safety awards you must keep your log score at 70% or higher. last month mine were 91%. Its not rocket science just keep it legal for the most part you will be ok.![]()
I give my trust Freely, only you may throw it away.
Ha..Ya know I read this thread about Knight and have to kind of chuckle cause it feels good knowing that I'm not the only one that sat for hours waiting on loads with them. I drove for them from July 07 to December 07. I can only recall two of those weeks where I got over 2000 miles in a week and that WAS working over the weekend just so I could get a paycheck. And the per diem pay? What a rip off that is. Many times during the weekend after I delivered I'd sit for an hour or two waiting to get a load, call the weekend dispatch cell phone and the guy on the other end says oh sorry man I'm at home I forgot about you, let me find something. I'd then have to remind him that I needed an empty trailor of which none could be found...So essentially what ended up happening is my 14 hour clock burned away while I sat waiting for a load, then having to remind the dispatcher that I needed one, then be sent on a wild goose chase to find a trailor and once one was found, deadhead 200 or so miles to get a load that went 500 miles that delivered in 2 days!! All getting paid per diem that I seemed to have to call every week to get taken off of and they never did...You'd think that as large of a company that they are, they would have the frieght...AND trailors!!!! I'm out of trucking now..they left me broke...thinking about going flatbedding now with Builders Transportation Company...RUN AWAY FROM KNIGHT..FAR FAR AWAY!!!!
