Sadly there does seem to be differences in what "non-forced dispatch' means from terminal to terminal and even from dispatcher to dispatcher within any given terminal.

My original dispatcher when I was there NFD meant I did not have to take any load I did not want. He would ask why, but only to see if there was something that could be worked out if he really needed me to at least pick it up.

My second dispatcher had a real problem with the concept. He was an idiot with a God complex and we butted heads more than once over it to the point of even having to bring in either the safety director, ops manager, or terminal manager several times. He lost every time but refused to learn.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

UTurn2001, Ya I here ya on the U did'nt have to take A load if that was'nt A load or perhaps a lane of your choice. Intially that was the case then the Pa, terminal started changing up on me. Then they changed the Dispatcher which I had and that was OK till he became the FM plus my dispatcher & finally he told me he could'nt be my dispatcher because of time it took to be the Fleetmanager. that was near Christmas & the fallout of working with someone else began. for starters I remember being in Phoenix & in the dispatch room & dispatchers were messing with there Driver's. which they did'nt like, putting loads on them which they knew the Driver would'nt like or were they were going.Kinda like A practicle joke on there Drivers if U know what I mean
