Default tanker training for experienced driver

Anyone know of a decent tanker company who hires out of michigan and trains for tanker. Had enough with tarping and have heard good things about tanker.

Also I am a very cautious driver, take my time, no tickets, no accidents and I know driving a tanker is more of a responsibility then skateboards when it comes to operating but i know I can handle it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, i have searched around and seems im in the wrong state for hiring tanker drivers even schneider isnt hiring in michigan for tanker.

I can give you a few companies that might hire out of michigan...I don't know much about any of them though. Try Carry Transit, Oakley, Indian River, or Dana. Some tanker companies want you to live within 100 miles of a terminal to be hired.

That 1st load will  the heck out of you. hehe Just start slow and end slow after a few months you dont even notice the surge...

Superior Carriers and Carry Transit (depending where you live), and Dana. Stay away from Indian River...trust me, been there, done that!

I have been with Superior for 2 months now and they have been great. The only real tanker training you get is being out with a trainer. I just got my CDL A in Nov. The training center gets into the HazMat and tank pumping. And when you with a trainer, you don't stay in the truck, they put you up in company hotel or re-imburse you if it's not. Now they just pay me to sleep in the truck, but if your out and near another terminal, you have a choice to stay in the truck or use the co. hotel.

There,s a few tanker outfits in the Chicago area . I see more tanker co. running columbia freight shakers very bad idea. Tanks beat equipment up pretty good. The good points of pulling a tanker are no recaps , in 6 yrs. of pulling them I never had a blow out. Some co. s pay for load and unload , scale sometimes on shippers property . Detention pay usually easy to get . 4 wheelers don,t play with you as much. You get a tractor with a real jake brake. No axles to slide. When the tanker co.s are busy they,ll hire with out tank experience. Milk or cream is the easiest to pull and water treatment 47,900 1/2 full tank the hardest , it has a strong side surge. Money is the same or less than dry van. Good Luck

Here is one tanker company running out of Michigan. They are located in Detroit: http://www.gorskibulk.com/

Truthfully....I know nothing of any amount about them. Happened to see one of their trucks in the Neville Island, PA tankwash the other day....but didn't get a chance to talk to the driver.

Might be worth a call.... 8)

Our nearest terminals to you are Markham, IL and Cincinnati, OH....

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

    very good company
From all I know about them....they are a fairly good company.....but based on the information on their Detroit terminal: http://www.hytt.com/wwwroot2/hyttMain/lowResFrame.htm... it looks like they are looking for only O/O's- IC's there.
