    Hey everyone~

I had a nice extended weekend with my hubby. He got to take home time a day early. His dispatcher, Carol, told him planner didn't have anything small, but I think it's just because she likes him He came home Wednesday and I took him back this morning.

I got to ride along with my hubby for most of the day today. His trainer and him both returned from home time this morning and low and behold, dispatch sends them both out to the same place at the same time with loads that were sitting in Brooks yard. Going to the Lowe's warehouse in Lebanon, OR. (anyone who goes there and has never been there before...slide your tandems all the way back before you get to the gate! lol) Anyway, so we ran together there. Then my hubby went to St. Helens (Armstrong) to pick up roofing tile (in a reefer trailer too! ) to deliver to Phoenix. All the while his trainer picks up his next load in Halsey also headed to....yep, you guessed it, Phoenix! So they are going to run all the way there together.

Glad your back Jim. Keep us posted.

    Their trucks are currently full.

Their drivers must have found something good,

either that or the economy has people frozen and cautious about leaving
    their job.

Yes, last week I was in Brooks and they said that there were 14 soloed out drivers waiting for their trucks. They said that the week before not one person quit or was fired, so no trucks became available. People don't want to leave...

    Good Morning everyone~

Sorry I know it's been awhile. Things have been a little up in the air but I will explain that in a bit.

First, I left you guys on the Phoenix run. Well, both Bob (my hubby) and Eric (his trainer) ended up dropping the loads in Fontana and having someone else take them both on to Phoenix bc they were out of hours. The Bob got a run up to Denver, then Denver back to Cali. Then he was sent back down to LA area again. He says he's getting better navigating LA and he got a nice view of Crenshaw! Then they routed him back up here with yet another load of beer. So I got to spend the night with him at Jubitz night before last. Now he's on his way back down to LA area. So thats the short version of his trips. On his way to Phoenix he got scaled and safety checked at Ashland. The company got a ticket for not enough chains. That has since been fixed.

Now for the "up in the air" part. Awhile back we met Eric at Jubitz and Eric asked Bob what he though of team driving. Bob told him only if it was with the right person that he trusted. Eric said the same thing and then proceeded to ask Bob if he would team with him. Eric said there were only 2 guys he would drive with and Bob was one of them. We were both a little shocked. Anyway, Bob and Eric are both leaving May to team drive for a May leaser. Dirk (sp?), Love(Luv?) Trucking, leases May trucks and hires guys to drive them. They still haul for and get dispatched by May, but May isn't paying them. Well, we got word this morning that the truck is ready. Bob and I were a little surprised, we thought this wasn't going to happen for at least a few more weeks. I am planning to go with Bob from the 18th - 30th, so the 30th will be my hubby's last day with May the company, but not hauling for May. Eric will have the truck from now til Bob joins him on the 31st, or close to then.

I will keep everyone posted on how that all works out.

I know there was argument over the idling policy and I stayed out of it. I want to add something that happened to Bob week before last. He was in Denver that Thursday that the weather changed so quickly. He went to bed and it was 74, clear and sunny. 6 hrs later he woke up and it was 33 and snowing! His next stop was in Wyoming, and he couldn't sleep because it was so cold out (-4*) and his heater couldn't keep up. Anyway, he called his DM that morning and was just chatting with her about the Denver weather and then about the -4 in Wyoming. She asked him why he didn't idle and then she processed to rip him a new rear-end because he didn't idle! So, there are situations that idling is almost required for you to save your rear-end from your DM. LOL

I will post again when I know more.

I remember saying that May does allow idleing if weather demands it.. And in all cases your OSL will pay for it so its not a problem for Heat and cold they will pop for the dime..

I know many drivers that have done the lease thing and trust me 99% of the time they will be swapping there load to bail someone out.. And some times they will just be sitting.. The lease for the most part is fashioned like another company i will not mention..

On a side note did you know Marvin May sits on the CR England board? There was a husband and wife team that use to run really hard and when i say hard they ran 7k a month.. I talked to them there both with someone else now. They said something changed at May that well just made them pay off the lease and they left.. They kept the truck because the lease after 2 years can be paid off. The truck lasted about a year they sold it and went to work for well lets get back on track.

May will run teams an average of 5k miles a week some times more sometimes less.. most solo's get about 2800 to 3200 a week as a company driver. o/o average about 2500 a week and the majority of them left to another local company after Mike Olsen left..

I would be asking a few things like.. How much are the pay outs on the truck.. gas insurance maintance and emergncy funds and how much is your husband getting paid as a team.. New teams start off at .38 to .41 cents a mile split.. average pay for a solo is .36 to .38 a mile most of this is true.. it is simple math 2800 at .38 vs 5000 at .40 split .38 at 2800 = gross $1064.00 .40 xs 5000 = $2000.00 divided by 2 = $1000.00 Now this is an average.. some times more sometimes less. The only real question is what do you want and expect.. If your husband leaves the team and wants to go back to May he might not be allowed back.. Its a May thing.

I am not saying anything bad just stating some facts. Talk to Sharon are Angela and Ask them about me better yet talk to Robin or Cindy.. PM me some time i can tell you all kinds of juicy things about May and yes i just re hired back to may all in all i give it a 68% rating on diver satisfaction. The Dog Has Spoken

Unfortunately, I didn't ask for all that information and I didn't ask for any opinions on what they are doing. And I could careless what Marvin is doing. He could sit on 500 trucking company boards for all I care.

It's a done deal. I know what all the logistics are on our end and I know how and what they will get paid. Lets just say the pay and miles will be more.

Interesting info, Big Dog. If I had enough posts, I would PM you for more. Guess I'll hafta wait another 40 or so posts. ;-)

So Marvin is on the CR (95% lease drivers) England. I hear that a lot of those guys are hurting right now. Talked to one up in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. He was REAL interested in May and asked a bunch of questions when he saw we were driving for May.

Lori is ok i worked for may for a long time.. I have been accepted back with no problems. But i have been offered a few more pennies from another company that is just as good.

If you worked for may and have ever been in the yard out by woodland then you should know Robert and Mike the yard dogs. there was a time when no drivers had to wait for a load they would empty and reload the trailers made it nice on drivers.. Now there is Dave and Robert.

I have done the lease thing never want to do it again.. Have to work to hard at it.

It is not for all but some do love it.. Did you know that if you fail on the lease that no one at may will take you back?

Its been in Yolo since 2001 Robert is the tall lanky fellow he is still the Big Dog yard manager in Yolo.. Dave is a new guy pudgy Robert use to drive a black old Frieghtliner Mike Drove the 770. The reason no one sits is because of Sharon in brooks she handles all frieght from west coast to AZ.. Nice person.

Mike was famos for jumping down throats for people making messes..
