I don't mind flatbed hauling at all, a couple of years ago I went to work for TMC. I liked it for the most part, what I didn't like about that company was N.Y. Pa. N.J. Conn. Mass. and so on, and so on, all I did was drive the North East United States go home on the weekends then head right back to the North East.

As long as Westar Trucking is either local / Texas dedicated, I will be all for it..

No more cross country living in a truck two or three weeks out of a month for me, I did that years ago, now I have a wife and two daughters to go home to.

I looked at Westar's web site http://www.westar-wf.com/aboutus.php they look to be pretty good, I will give them a call.

Well it looks like I've been passed some pretty good info in the last couple of hours, I'm going to call Westar monday, just to let them know I'm coming, and see if they can seat me in a truck when I get there.

From what I understand Westar is pretty much a local trucking company, flatbed local, but at least working for them I won't have to live in a truck.

NC, I have worked for Westar transportation here in Wichita Falls for over a year now. We run flatbeds, haul mostly pipe and sheetrock. Sheetrock out of Duke, Oklahoma to San Antonio, Austin and Houston areas, then Pipe out of Houston to Okla, West Texas, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, ND, SD and others. Late model equipment, new drivers usually start in an 05 Volvo, KW or Pete, within 6 months you will get a brand new Pete. In the year I've been there I have only had 4 weekends I did not make it back to Wichita Falls. Most weeks I get to sleep at home at least 1 night (last week spent 3 nights at home plus the weekend).

Last I heard they had a $1000.00 sign on bonus. Benefits are pretty good.

And actually, their address is Wichita Falls, they are in Jolly, about 8 miles west of Wichita Falls, 20 miles from Iowa Park. Iowa Park has a yard that the city owns that they allow trucks to park in. If you live there, you can park the truck there instead of the yard.
