I just finished my year with Schneider. Take my advise, find another company. Because before you year is up you will be counting the days.
When I went through their school it was a one year contract, now it is 18 months.

2 weeks in a truck with 2 days at home is TORTURE. There are MUCH better company's out there you just gotta fine em.

The company is just too big. No organization. They know they have you by the balls too, with that Contract you sign.

There is one plus with Schneider. They do have a lot of dedicated accounts. And if you can find one that pays you a SALARY then I would jump on it because it is a really sweet gig. You will never hear about these accounts though because the drivers guard them with secrecy. My last 3 months with Schneider I ran a Yard Jockey at MEADWESTVACO in Atlanta. 8hrs a day 5-6 days a week payed me 715 a week plus overtime . Home every night.

MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING WHEN DEALING WITH SCHNEIDER!!

In reply to the above poster, that sounds about exactly just like Swift also. 2 or 3 weeks out then just 2 days home, I mean come on, that's barely enough time to pay your bills and mow your lawn before you have to head back out again.

To the topic creator, if the poster above me is right, then Schneider sounds exactly like Swift, and that would mean that they are both TERRIBLE companies to work for. I drove for Swift for 10 months, and I just couldn't take their BS anymore. You are just a number to them, and they treat you like a robot rather than a human being. I would definitely suggest you look a little harder, ask around on here a little bit more, and find a better company than Schneider/Swift. Please, please don't make the same mistake I did and go with one of these "mega haulers", because I know for one that Swift is a very disorganized company that couldn't give less of a **** about their driver's needs such as hometime and pay reimbursements to name a few. Trust me, you can do better than a company like Swift/Schneider.

I havent driven for Schneider, but from what I have heard they are on of the better large and mega carriers to drive for. If your desire is to drive OTR hometime is typically earned based on time spent on the road, aproximately 6-7 days earns 1 day home, with a minumum of 14-21 days out before the home time can occur. Whether this is right or wrong would be a personnel issue to you, everybodys needs are different, like it or not this is the "lifestyle" of OTR driving.
My understanding is, if you are in need of your CDL Schneiders training program is one of the best, but you will need to commit to them for the time period to "pay back" the training, or if you opt out you would owe for the ccost of the training.
Dont know what your aspirations are, but if you go with a mega carrier, generally finding a good dedicated account within that carrier would probably be the way to go. Usually better pay (whether salary or milage), bettter hometime etc.
Like I said everybodies aspirations are diferent dont judge the carrier until you have done thorough research on them.
Do a search on this site for Schneider, or whatever carrier you a looking into.
Also, Schneider has their own forum site. You might beable to get some inside information. This is the link:

Default Well I had a bad experience with Transport America

and I really attribute that to the driver trainee i had who was a self-rightous religious ***** (and I go to chruch). But it is what it is and I need to move on, and now I have offers from Schnieder and Swift and I'm trying to decide who has the best training and who is the better company to go with at least for the first six months ( I already have my cdl). Through a lawyer, I cleaned up my dac report and as a result, ta had to pay unemployment and damages to me.

Sounds just like the jerk I had with Schneider. I couldnt do anything right in his eyes, no matter what it was. Pull in 1 mph over the gear speed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!! WHOA!!" Constantly turning the wipers on and off from the pax seat, turning on and off the cruise control, telling me how to cheat on log books, the list goes on, not to mention his awful attitude. I got to my SQT and found out he trained 20 students, 18 complained on him, and he is still training students at Schneider? I now work for another carrier, but I am tellin ya, if the name R. Bartel comes up, get another trainer, I am freakin serious. I almost walked out of the company in the middle of los angeles when this ***** was yelling at me constantly. I guess I should add I passed the training with flying colors in Dallas, they actually wanted me to give other new students tips on driving! What??? So this dude just had a major ego problem, and needless to say I wrote him up, and complained. Schneider forgave my tuition because of my awful, awful experience.

Anyway, Scneider is good, if you like working for a huge company. I went with a smaller company though, regional, dedicated. Its tough from what I hear to get on with dedicated at Schneider, but again, thats just what I hear.

I want to state again that the ONLY good dedicated gig with Schneider is one that is paid SALARY ONLY. If you are running a dedicated and getting paid by the mile YOU ARE GETTING SCREWED.

They pay according to phase and level. The higher the phase, the more money. One of the other drivers that was running the Yard with me at MEADWESTVACO was a phase 3, and was getting a little over 1000 a week gross. Not bad for about 48hrs of work.

They have some more Yard Jocky positions a little north of Atlanta, not sure of the name though. I know they have other Yard Dog positions across the country.

I also know that MEADWESTVACO is a HUGE account with Schneider and they have a lot of good dedicated driving jobs that pay salary out of Texas. But unless you get REALLY lucky you wont get them. You just have to call the OC's and TALK to the STL/DBL's.

I work for swift I do about 15 to 27 days out and I usually take 3 to 4 days off every time . The best bet is this get to a truck stop find some Schneider drivers and ask 7 to 10 ask them the good and bad about the company most will be upfront with you . Because a wise man once said if you believe every thing you read you should not read. I am not saying that all post on Schneider or swift are wrong but some tend to lead me thinking that they are not telling the whole story.
