They are the old Dick Simon "skunk" truck outfit. Simon got in a little hot water, financially I believe, a few years back and the company restructured and changed its name to Central. Kept the same colors, only the name and faces changed. Haven't kept up on what they have been like to work with since. I would be cautious. Maybe they are doing things right, but buyer beware.

When I was there in 05 it was run by Jerrys Son in Law and his daughter ran Central Freight. That may have changed since I left, but I doubt it as he ran the company reasonably well.

None of them are perfect and I would go back to Central if I wanted to. They pay like a training company and that would be my biggest beef with them.

    Yes and no.

Central was bought by the "owner" of Swift. It is run as its own company however with no official ties to Swift. However with that said, many of the companies policies are the same as Swift.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

When I was there we could use Swifts Terminals for repairs and fuel. That ended shortly before I left.

    I'll let U know... I start on the 4th of Feb 07.

Apparently, all of the companies have their issues some more than others.

Swift gets bag'd on a lot but I also hear from happy Swift operators. I guess Attitude, patients, focus and safety are what really counts; no matter where U end up.

    Good Luck.

Talked with my old trainer from Central and they are using Swift Terminals again, so Jerry must have re-instated that when he returned to power at Swift.
