    Default US XPRESS Opinions?

I've been contacted by US Xpress NUMEROUS times and don't know much about them other than that their trucks are red Freightliners. lol.

I've been offered a $2000.00 sign on bonus and $0.43/mile. A good rider policy that includes pets is another reason I'm considering them.

Can anyone point me to a thread about them or give me any opinions/info?

Ooops I found a couple of threads. My bad, I was searching for EXPRESS instead of XPRESS!

Hey TP! All is well here and I hope like-wise with you!!! Yeah I'm getting the itch BAD again! I'd LIKE to go back to TMC but will have to talk to them about possibly "bending" the pet policy.
Also, I've been dating my g/f for a year now and she wants to ride along too so I'll have to see about the wife ONLY policy.
If all else fails I'm open to suggestions on other companies!!!

A year is long enough, make an honest woman out of her. One problem solved. I don't see the pet policy changing.

US Xpress is a great starter company but you will find yourself in alot of railroad yards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was the many reason why i quit and they would not next my columbia. it had an A/C problem and kept freezing. Took it to the shop, both FL and yard shop, multiple time with no success.

they had a good auto trans when i was there and paid very well. the sliding scale helped alot. you could do 2 sometimes three short trips and get PAID!!!

the now have some T600 i see.

    good luck

Fred, Xpress also has some dang nice Volvo's. Don't know what they have on the inside but from what I hear the Volvo's base model is about like the other's top of the line models. Never drove one myself but that's what I hear from people who have drove one, they absolutely love them.

Doing decent, tied down right now with a house getting build. Get me a real nice Xmas gift. Supposed to be done and moving in around the 21st of December. Still looking for something better career wise but haven't found anything that can match my current. Certainly could do less with the BS from the higher-ups and some of their dum-dum moves on where they want to send me each day.

    Goldie,

I did my finishing training with USX and then drove for an O/O leased to them. If my job ended today and I needed to go OTR then that is where I would go to first.

I have read your posts ( from long ago ) from the start. I have a feeling that anywhere you go you will do well.

    Best regards,

    Ridge

Thank You Ridge. Advice from a mod like you carries a lot of weight. USX will get a GOOD look-over from me if/when I go OTR in January. Thanks again for your input and thanks to everyone who has responded.

hi i/we have been with usx as a team for almost 4 years and are very happy with them. i ran solo before running team and when the wife was off the truck a few times i run solo. one thing to think about is if you live in NY city do you have a place to park a truck if so great if not usx has a drop lot in Kearny, nj you can leave the truck at.

if you can get one get the VOLVO "try telling the recruiter you will only go to work if thay will guarantee you a VOLVO" it would be an 06-07 vn780 the ride is the best of all the trucks thay have and the sleeper even has the dinette table under the bed "like a camper"

i see that you live in NYC. i believe they have a droyard in Newark, NJ. so you would have a place to park the truck at when you go home

    Question
do they send you home for your time off with a trailer or just the cab (tractor)? If you have to bring the trailer home with you, what's their policy for dropping the trailer where there is truck parking near my house, and going home with just the tractor?

your trailer has to be secured. and your truck can come home with you. using that drop yard in NJ will allow you to do that. of course, call the recruiter to make sure that is still their policy.

    Thanks Nick.
I've got a spot at a place about 3 miles from home. I can park the whole truck there and pay $20/weekend but the 3 mile walk, bike, bus home SUCKS lol. So I'd want to take the tractor home. If that falls through, I'll use NJ. I just wonder how they'd feel about the extra miles I'd put on the tractor (empty) going from NJ to my house?

if you can take a trailer home that would be best as you would not have to go and get one every time you leave the house.

now with that said i have NEVER taken a trailer home. you will be able to drop it and the Kearny yard or thay may ask you to drop it at a customer someplace in or around where you live.

most of the time when we go home we drop our trailer 186 miles from home...
