Starting w/ CT (Coastal Transport); Any Advice from drivers?

I will begin orientation 11/26/2007 and training immediately afterwards. CT is a flatbed company and I'm looking for any and all advice towards orientation, training, personal materials needed, and minor and major tips for driving a flatbed. :shock:

They haven't told you what to bring? Load securement will teach you what you need to know. Basically, use one more strap or chain than you've calculated you'll need. Don't leave a load on the side of the road or a corner. Take enough clothes so you can layer up, particularly starting this time of year. Rain gear too. BOL

I was with Ct for over a yr and had too leave because as your cpm goes up the miles go down know that for a fact happened too others as well as me its a good company to start with but dont plan on retireing with them.
I've been talking to drivers off and on with them and they are hurting real bad now not only slow freight but their losing shippers fast most drivers are only bringing home 200-250wk at this time.
One friend of mine that i know with them has left and is coming over to Tandem Transport where iam,said he'd had enough promises and short pay checks.

Thanks Scooter, but could you elaborate a little about CT's orientation and training process and any helpful tips?????

if your staying thru orentation then what cloths ya need and food too snack on also their training for new drivers is 6 weeks long most what ya need in truck the trainer will already have you'll know who he is and talk too him before ya meet also bring money for food for a week you'll be home the weekends for sure.

Scooter, Did you enjoy your training experiences (the good and bad) and were you given a good trainer?

What city and state did you enjoy traveling to the most?

In school the recruiter from CT said that we could earn between $40k-$50k in our first year. TRUE or FALSE?

The training was good and my Trainer was easy too get along with no problems there but i only did 2 weeks because of Prior Otr exp as far as annual gross prolly low end 40K.
Dont get me wrong CT is a good company to start with with no flatbed exp their Ins sucks bigtime will cost for family 650. a month,and they did away with their safety and performance bonus just before i quit.
