Default jb hunt dedicated need input

sorry if this post twice first time didnt show

first off i have been driving for Maverick for about 10 months, before that i was driving a lowboy and dump local for about 8 years

out of the blue today i get a call from a JB recuriter asking if i was interested in a dedicated account job for proctor and gamble out of danville Va

    requriter quoted verbatem
    Type of Job: Dedicated

    Pay Scale: $0.40 per mile
Average miles per week: 2379 miles per week
Frequency of Home Time: 2 days off and 10 days on
Driver Residence Area: Must live within 40 miles of DANVILLE, VA
    Orientation Location: Concord, NC
Operating Area: NE, SE, and some MW

    Average Yearly Gross: $50000
    Average Weekly Gross: $961
Job Description: Run regional earning .40 cents per mile. Moving freight for the designated customer, within the southeastern region. Averaging $960 per week and $50,000 per year.
    Job ID Number: 2410

what i am intersted in is mostly anyone on this account that can give info on the accuracy of the above also any good or bad on the companys dedicated jobs this would be a slight raise pluse a terminal 15 miles from home.
also what is the ratio of drop hook vs live load unload, and how many loads do you finger print
also does jb pay empty miles? couldnt find it on there website
recruiter also said the norm is home every friday to monday not 10-2

thanks for any input ahead of time

If you really want true dedicated, go work for Saia, FedEx Or UPS Frieght. I have never seen a true dedicated for OTR companies.

    I have, many times.

JB for one runs dedicated for Budweiser out of St Louis. They run out loaded and return empty.

But you are also right. There are many times a dedicated run with an OTR company is you run out of a plant and then work your way back hauling whatever.

How truly dedicated a run is depends on how willing the shipper is to pay for true dedicated.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I used to run a pure dedicated. It's actually common in the world of JIT automotive. You run a truck load of auto parts into the assembly plant, then return with a load of empty racks / bins to the original shipper.

As to the OP. I never drove for JB, so I can't tell you all the specifics. But I did have a JB recruiter almost talk me into jumping on, for a dedicated account. Just before orientation I called to reconfirm everything and was told that the dedicated account was full, but if I went OTR for awhile something on the account would open up soon. That was the end of it for me. I've herad others tell similar stories, but I don't know how common that practice is, to be honest.

BTW, now that JB has your phone number, their recruiters will be calling you constantly, for years. They are the most persistant bunch I've ever met.

Just do what I did to get them to stop calling. Tell that they have great timeing because you just lost your current driving job because you were caught driving drunk and fail a drug test. That should get them to stop calling .

Never a good idea to burn bridges (no matter how rickety they look now)

JB has called me many many times and said they have dedicated runs from my area. twice I called them back and both times they said I would have to join the company and put my name on the list, the dedicated runs are then given by senority, not at all what they say during the recruiting call.
Dont leave Maverick for JB, I understand if you want to do better, but you wont do it at JB,
My brother did try working for them last year and he lasted 2 months. he has over 30 years experience and he said it was the worst he had ever been treated

I would say the same as the others here. I work for J.B. but I am always looking for something better. I've got no tickets or accidents. I've heard of alot of guys going to orientation promised ded. only to find out the job was gone. It prob. happens at other companies too. Recruiters tell alot of lies alot of time. Also don't feel to special about being called by them. They call everyone. There are other companies that treat drivers way worst than the way J.B. sometimes treats ya. Werner was thousands of times worse then J.B to me. All and all knowing what I know about the Co. I would say they are alot better company to start out with than all the other starter companies. But I surely would not leave Maverick for them if I were you.

I work for JB rite now, and just started a new dedicated run out of Chattanooga, TN. I have to say the only reason I went with JB in the first place was to get on one of their dedicated routes. I put up with some unpleasantries with one dispatcher that was new, but other than that, I just did my work and put the time and miles in until this dedicated run opened up for me.
    Now, it is ALL GRAVY!
I am home every day by 19:00, but usually by 15:00. I am home every weekend and dont leave until 04:00 to 05:00 on Monday mornings.
My pay is a standard set amount unless I have more than one stop per run, or if my shipper or receiver takes longer than 1 and 1/2 hrs to get me unloaded.
I and the other drivers on the fleet keep asking ourselves when are we going to wake up, because, so far, this dedicated gig has been pure heaven.
I know I may be cursing myself all to hell by writing this, but hey, I am having so much fun right now, I can't believe it. The last 3 weeks I have wanted to giggle as I get home every day before my wife and kid get home from school.
I know there has to be a catch somewhere, but I just haven't found it yet.
Like I said, I had to drive over the road for JB for almost a year before I fell into this job, but after I got used to the slow truck and driving with the CB radio turned off, it wasn't too bad.
Now, all the crap I had to endure driving my slow little JB truck is paying off. I haven't slept any where but my bed at home in over a month, and I dont really see me having to in the foreseeable future.
I know it will depend upon which dedicated run you get, but all I can say is the one I am one ROCKS right now.
    Good Luck
If I had just a little more humility,...... I'd be perfect!!!

BTW, just to let you know, I am NO cheerleader for JB or any other company. Just check out my past posts if you want to know how I look at trucking companies. Just thought I would add that, since I DO sound like the new sheepdancer on that last post. hehehe
