    Default Got my CDL yesterday

Got my CDL yesterday and school graduation is tommorrow. Just waiting to go to Little Rock for orientation now.
So I guess my only big decision now is do I dress like the drivers I see nowdays in sweatpants, sneakers, wife beater, and baseball cap or do I go old school with the jeans, western type button down shirt, cowboy boots and a mesh cap?

Guess I never fell into either of those categories when I drove.

My typical attire was jeans, polo type shirt or a plain t-shirt, and running shoes.

I would suggest that you dress "professionally". Jeans, shirt with collar(some long sleeve, some short sleeves), and yes t-shirts are ok. Since you are facing winter.... long sleeve t-shirts would be ok. Having a sweatshirt or two on hand is a good idea. I have no idea what a "wife beater" is....but I'm sure its not necessary. A baseball cap is good. You can wear "roach killers" as they would be fine...but depending on the kind of freight you will be hauling, you may need to have steel toed shoes as well. A pair of tennis shoes would be good as well....and make sure you have flip flops for the showers.

I would also suggest a very heavy jacket, a stocking cap, and even possibly a balaclava. Also, for emergency usages...you may want to find a good military surplus store and buy an Army (military grade) arctic sleeping bag to keep stashed under the bunk. If you ever break down in winter....or get isolated and run out of fuel....you will need it in the great white north....meaning anywhere north of Ocala FL, in the winter. Insulated gloves are a must as well. 8)
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

    Wrangler Jeans
    Vest
flannel shirt ...sleeves cut off "Winter DRESS" with vest
WhitE hanes -T sleeves cut off (summer dress" with vest
    "BIG " turqoise belt buckle
    Soiled Catapillar ball cap
    Boots -anything "Cowboy -ISH "

these are the basics , and should get you buy , But dressing any thing less might have more seasoned drivers thinking you have sugar in your tank ....Oh and if you have wife or girl friend it might me wise to start practicing calling her "YER OL' LADY" now .

Thanks for all the input guys, even though I was kinda joking around.
I figure almost anything goes for in the truck driving and being comfortable (besides, whose going to know if I am wearing pants with the cab being so far above car traffic.)
Going skateboard so steel toed shoes is a definate when at a pick up or drop off, and ALWAYS a clean shirt with a collar when anywhere near the customers (or bosses).
I do like the suggested 'Git R Done' hat so I am going to hop on Ebay and find one of those tonight.

Why don't you go in your Birthday Suit, It's free and doesn't need ironing. Of course you'll have to figure out where to stick your name tag so others won't stare.

    Good Luck

Got a tattoo on my chest so no worry about the name tag. I will just have to tell everyone my name really is Harley Davidson.
As far as ironing the birthday suit, well I'm only 45 so I shouldn't have to worry about that for another 15 years or so.
