    Default Preventable Accident question

I drive Tanker, and was unloading at the customers plant, got done unloading and during the unload was shootin the sh*t with the onsite representitive for my company and another driver. Well somehow I forgot to unhook the hose from the tanker and pulled away pulling off the end of the un load hose. Well the onsite rep for my company said I had to fill out an accident report, did that and my safety dept charged me with a preventable. No damage to our equiptment, no cops were called, no one was towed away. My question is if I try and get another driving job is that "preventable accident" going to count against me, even though it was not a "real" accident?

Yes it will be counted as a preventable accident. I highly doubt any company is going to hold it against you though, unless you have numerous minor things show up, and it starts to show a pattern.

I believe most apps. look for things where damage was created and a police report was filed. Heard of lots of drivers never reporting little incidents like yours and still get hired.

Perhaps this article can help describing the nature of your accident:

There are only two ways this is going to hurt you.

    1) You have a long history of making these types of errors.

    2) You try to hide it when you apply to another carrier.

You made a stupid little mistake. It is on par with drivers forgetting to unhook their air line and pulling out from under a trailer. It happens. Just be adult about it, live up to it, learn from it, and move on.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I gotten hit at a Truck Stop (Flying J West Memphis) by a swift Truck. I failed to mention it on an Application, and I was asked about it by another Company later on. When I mention I was hit by a Swift Truck at a Truck Stop, they just said Oh no problem. I did mention that I did not know if it was on any record since the Police was not called.
