Default down to 2 choices for training but need advice

I have narrowed my choices for company sponsored training down to swift or prime. I would go to allstate but 6 months and then to have a 6500 student loan debt is too much plus trying to work a full time job and go to school way to much would rather just have to concentrate getting trained and being out on the road. I even looked at my locla community college(6 weeks) and they want 4500 and since the cdl program is separate they dont have fianancial aid and i would have to get a loan for it on my own, i tried that route but cant get fianancing because of my fair credit.

The only thing thats holding me back from going to prime or swift is the fact my friend whos going to be moving to north carolina the first of next year is getting married on december 15th.
do you think either prime or swift would work with me to get me home on the 14 and 15th of december if i am up front with them and tell them before I set my date to come onboard? Or if i really want to go to his wedding just to suck it up and go to school locally and spend the money

Out of the two you listed I would go with Swift. I, like many professional drivers, have no use for Prime and their tendency for predatory employment practices.

As far as being home the weekend of the 15th it should not be a problem with any company. Just make sure that you let your dispatcher know well ahead of time and then remind him/her as the time grows closer.

If you are wanting a long weekend for the wedding....like 3-4 days.....you may have to stay out for 3 weeks straight before hand, but that is something you can work out with your dispatcher. What I would do is tell them you need home on the 13th and take off until either the night of the 16th or the morning of the 17th. This way if something does get a bit messed up you have a day to play with on the front and then plenty of time to regroup and get rested before going back out on the back end.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

I dont know where you live but have you checked into Roehl?

Also have you checked with your state employment office to see if you would qualify for job training and getting your school paid for that way?

Whats the Allstate career? Truck driving is getting to be a worse and worse job every year and its hard to get out of once youre in... If only I could make the same money with my qualifications and the low wages around here...Anyone that gets out of a good career to drive a truck 4 the same money is dumb!
You cannot rely on any company getting you home Dec. 15th- not 100%!

I think Allstate is a private CDL school. I know there is a chain of schools called All State.

yeah allstate career has 3 schools one inbaltimore and 2 in pa.

i looked into roehl and they wont take becasue of the one rear end accident a year ago which there was only a total of 1200 dollars property damage and thats it.

ii really dpnt want to go to pam or usa unless necessary

i would do the community college route in a heartbeat if i can get a cosigner
