    Default How is Schnider Bulk?

I have read pumpkin driver and tanker info threads. Got me wanting to try pulling a tanker. Have no problem being out 2+ weeks at a time at the moment. Working at a dumb dead end job so looking into driving. Dont have my CDL and gonna get them hopefully at local college or trucking school. Dont wanna sign a 18 month contract just in case something dont work out. I can also get training from my dad sense he is transportation manager with a convience store distributor and they have small tractor trailer pups and 48ft trailers and a nice yard but down side is I wont be able to use the truck to take the test.

Can someone gimmie the good and the bad of this??? Would like to hear from past drivers and current drivers. Any help is much appreciated. Taking my class to lower my speeding points off my record and looking to get this going by the end of the year.

Schneider is OK...and their bulk division seems to have a number of contented drivers. I don't know that much about them, but I have spoken to some of their drivers (tanker) over the years and they seemed to feel good about their gig.

While getting some "training" from one of their drivers would be a "good thing".... you are still going to have to do the "school thing". No one in general will hire you without the "diploma", and its best if it is a PTDI rated school. Its an industry/insurance rule thing.

If you are going to get points off of your license...you'd best do it now, and before you get your CDL....pull your MVR for as many years as your state can provide to make sure the MVR has been updated. This is because once you have a CDL in your hands....you come under a completely different set of Laws. Federal Law prohibits CMV Drivers (CDL Holders) from going to school for points removal, and even prevents judges and DA's from lessening or "masking" offenses. We are held to a much higher standard than non-CDL drivers.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

There are only a few companies, like Crete and their sister companies, that really require the school be PTDI certified, but many companies do require the course you take be at least 160 hours, the same amount of hours as a PTDI course.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

When I went to "Orientation" at Con-Way (for drivers who have lasted ~1yr) one of the guys I hung out with from Colorado pulled a tank for the pumpkin for 3-4 years. He was happy there, had no real complaints just got tired of the OTR life.
