    Default Watkins and Shepard school

I have just been looking into this company. I understand you go to school for 4 weeks then out on your own. Do they teach what other schools leave for trainers? IE how to set up and deal with customers, finding where your supposed to go to deliver, company paperwork, etc?
A LITTLE concerned about this part of the newbie training.
    Cheers

By their website they say no trainer needed after your school. Odd but that what it says. I can not say for sure since I never worked for them. But in my personal opinion trainer does give you much needed training after school. they can only teach you so much in a 4 weeks period, and not getting the first hand experience can comeback and haunt you. A school only gives you the basics of the trucking industry.

    Wish you luck.

I have read and talked to many people about the Watkins/Shepard 30 day training program. They teach you everything that you will need to be successful as a solo driver after training as well as getting your CDL. As part of their training from Missoula, MT they will take you on a couple of live loads to Los Angeles and Seatlle. Phone them and they will explain your questions in detail.

I would call Bonnie one of the recruiter's and ask her about team training. I heard that with trainees that want to team, they must go out solo for the first 90 days. Don't know if that is true.

Also, W/S will only run you on the I-15/I-5/I-90 triangle untill such time as you feel you are ready to roll nationwide. This way you are running terminal to terminal and will run into other W/S drivers, both on the road and in the yards. Also you will get experience running the hills. Talk to and listen to the other drivers, they can help you out.
