Starting on the 24. Good company or what?
Autoshift trucks, the pay is based on a sliding scale. I've heard horror stories on that though. But then again what one person hates about a company, another person loves. So I wish you the best of luck! and drive safe. =DOriginally Posted by eptp88
i liked the sliding scale when i was there... you could do 2-3 200 miles in a day and get more money.... ohh. you will be seeing alot of RR yards too and some are quite scary!!!!!
you best bet is to get on a dedicated account if they have them anymore...
good luck. try to get on with a good fleet manager and be sure to visit chattanooga if you get a chance, its purrrrtttty in there and that was before they built the new complex

I was waiting line for my paperwork at a DC today when a US Xpress driver came barging in all pissed-off. He walked right past the line of other drivers and angrily rang the little bell near the Shipping\Recieving window. The window slid open and the girl in Shipping said "Can I help you?"
US Xpress: "You know, I've been pretty patient with you people! I've been here since 0900 AM and it's now one-o-clock and you guys said you could work me in to get loaded."
Girl types something into the computer and says: "Uh, I don't know who told your that. You're not schduled to be live-loaded until 5:30 tonight."
US Xpress: "Well I was told otherwise by somebody else."
Girl (angry): "Sir, it's not our fault your company sent you in early. You need to work this out with your dispatcher." SLAM! She shuts the glass partition. US Xpress goes storming out.
Bunch of drivers shook their head and laughed. I kept thinking, why was this guy so upset? Those 9+ unpaid hours were plenty of time to sightsee, read books, look at sunsets, watch DVD's, etc. A truckdweller's paradise!!

If you think that us driver is pissed now, wait until after max and pat take usx private again, than the sitting of usx drivers really begins.
Quit Smoking and save your life, wife wouldn't, now her care giver
That driver's probably pissed because he has to be 700 miles away by 0800 AM the next day -- where it's likely he'll wait all day at the receiver to get unloaded.Originally Posted by ColdFrostyMug

I don't think this problem is unique to USXpress. This type of waiting was the norm for me back in my driving days.
They will probably not be any better for you than Schneider was after two months as in pay or time at home with your family.
When I did drive for them for a very short time, 4 loads, all were short hauls.
I been talking to a Current driver for them and he has many times sat long time waiting for a load then only get a load going 150 miles that delivered the next day after sitting for hours and hours. Once in a while he will get a good load, but they are getting rare all the time.

While at school over the week i meet 2 different Us Express ...and got to check out their trucks...
While i was driving with another student and trainer (teacher) we had a Drive tire blow (my First LOUD!) and we were close to a plaza with a huge parking lot and there was a Us Express truck sitting there ,so we limbed next to it and waited for Tire tech to get there ..anyways the Driver for us express jumped out and he was friendly but he was not a good example of a good driver ..he offered us a pop or a beer we declined the beer and took the pops when i looked in his truck he had a sucide knob standing tall on his steering wheel...again not a good example...
couple days later i meet another driver who came back to school to say hello to his trainers and show us his truck...it was a really nice truck except for the autoshift (i don't like) it was a volvo which had a table in the back that collapses and he had top bunk down so table could stay up and they have a camera on the right fender which shows a display on a 7" screen ,they also had gps display in there on a 8" screen ....myself i'm a geek and i thought man that is sweet and set up nicely ...my only problem was the autoshift ...with that he could run it auto or manually ...
this driver had his ***** together and was making arnd 680.00 after taxes and insurance ..not bad for a new driver ...
hopefully this helps you out.
we was at a Pilot south of Fort Wayne here couple weeks ago a USX truck backs in beside us so we talk to him since the wife used to drive for them, she asked him the normal ?'s how's the miles runs etc ......... well he said he had been with em since Jan,07 miles sucked, runs sucked as well till he told the terminal mgr. he was quitin then things changed a little but not much he told us he is lookin now for something else.In his own words USX will never change.
go with the flow..........or just don't go nuff said
Not only was he a "poor example"....but he is also suffering from a "fatal case of dumbass"!! Having "alcoholic beverages" in a CMV is a "crime" and carries serious penalties. This link includes USX's company policies:Originally Posted by Sp33dbump

Specifically 392.4(a)(4).... it says it all.
The only time it is legal to have "alcohol" as in beer or liquor on a CMV...is in the trailer and on the manifest/bills of lading, period!! Talk about a "career killer"!!
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!
Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".
They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.
