    Default deBoer / school

Anyone have any recent information on deBoer out of Blenker, WI and the school there? Good company? Good school?
    Thanks for the help!

I didn't know deboer had their own school. When you find out more on that please post it. I know they hire out of other private schools and tech colleges.

I just had a go around with them. here is a snip of the emails. I have many more. The first guy I was talking to who actually told me they don't hire if you are over 40% bmi later forwarded my email to safety director saying he didn't know if he should answer me anymore.. that was funny. Funnyer yet is I'm not that heavy but I am very big. I work construction, asphalt and work out n the woods but this is what he told me.

Allen, I will make one final closing statement. Although you may be physically capable of driving the truck, are you able to climb in and out of the trailer, and if needed tailgate the freight, and or unload it? Can you walk across the parking lot without needing to stop and rest, can you regularly lift your arms above your head? We are an irregular route carrier, are your sleeping patterns adjustable? These are a few of our company's driver qualifications. We see a lot of drivers who apparently are not concerned about their health, therefore we have to be, and we have to protect our and the drivers best health interest. As for finding a DR that will sway a health decision, I will differ with you, The majority of health care facilities we use are industrial clinics, and health care professionals. This the year 2008 not 1958, we are concerned about the health and well being of our drivers, as should be obvious to you, and I definitely want to know up front what their health risk is. Either you are qualified or you are not, of course you will find a company to hire you, regardless of your state of health, but we are not one of them. The definition of discrimination is "treating likes differently" You are not the exception here, but the rule, our standards apply to anyone and all who are interested in driving for us. I wish you good luck in your driving pursuit and with your health.

You see, it sound more to me like you are discriminating against overweight people in order to keep your insurance premiums down. You can find a doctor to pass or fail anyone you want, that's business. I've driven and had a spectacular career for almost 13 years now and I've never been down to 40%bmi. And I have never failed a dot physical.
Knowing that you are discriminating based on weight, as the first gentleman told me, I don't think I will put myself in the position to be brought to a terminal only to be told I can't drive because I weigh too much and then be left to find my own way home.

I agree, this is total BS wrapped in office talk. Anyhow, if they are so 'concerned', the company we're with has physical test for that during orientation. You have to climb on the 2nd sport of a step ladder (simulating DOT-bumper of trailer) and if you fail that they won't hire you. They also let you walk with 50 lbs crate for approx. 30 ft. Then you have to lift that same crate on shelves: first height is waist height then you have to lift it on top shelf above your head. I think if you fail all that it's safe to assume you can't do what they want you to do, but if you do pass then back off!

Gordo....I haven't seen a "new" deBoer truck & trailer on the road in quite some time. Usually see 6-7 year old POS's.

If you are just getting your cdl try some of these companies that are closer to you,

    Reynolds Nationwide, http://drive4reynoldsnationwide.com/

    Spirit Truck Lines; http://www.spirittrucklines.com/

    U.S.A LogisticsCarriers; http://www.usalogisticscarriers.com/

or Savannah Transport; 785) 233-2190 Topeka KS.

All the drivers I have chatted with at Reynolds & Savannah Transport are very happy. Reynolds is based out of San Antonio, Savannah is supposed to have a terminal there.
