Type Swift in the search feature and you will get all the info you need.![]()
"A government big enough to give you everything you need, is a government strong enough to take everything you have" - Thomas Jefferson
i would look somewhere else
I will check in the search option, thank you, It sounds so far like they may not be my best option. Man, trucking is not easy to get into.
Decent company: not the best, not the worst. I have a couple of guys that I graduated with driving with them now and so far they are all happy with their training. Say they are treated pretty good and are happy with Swift.
With their regional you get home every 5 to 6 days usually but you only have 1 day off afterward.
I worked for Swift right out of driving school, but that was about 8 years ago. My memories are not overly fond ones.
Like any trucking company though how good or bad a person finds them will depend on what type of person you have for a fleet manager and at Swift a lot will also depend on the type of person your terminal manager is also.
My fleet manager was a total witch. Former driver who thought she could drive a load of ice through hell on the 4th of July in a dry van and not loose on ounce of it.![]()

The pluses were: Never had a fouled up paycheck. Decent equipment.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.
Swift eh? Never heard of 'em. :wink:Originally Posted by RamstaR

Before you ask about a company check the forums.I am still waiting on a call from a company.Swift was the first company I was going looking at then I did my checking and found out it is the worse or close to worse big company out there.
Swift, like many others, is a place many drivers start but they end up leaving after a few months. Still, some people find a home there, it really depends on your personal preferences. Many new drivers still want weekends at home, but eventually a bigger paycheck has them staying out longer, then they hire on with a better paying long haul company, like CFI.
.
CFI, I do believe, still has "regional fleets", and they are home every week if they want to be....and they will take student drivers.Originally Posted by Piece Of Work

Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!
Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".
They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

well i have been out of truckin for a couple of years and am going back in and going with swift because its close to where i reside and i am not needing to be home every two weeks but everything i hear about swift is the same stuff that was said about jb hunt its seems that the biggest dog gets the most fleas IMHO![]()
You guys be careful about your idle time on your downtime. A friend of mine drives for Swift and said they are really getting silly about your idle time and that they were sending messages that was really ugley to the drivers just recently. No respect for the drivers if you ask me. AS far as J.B. Hunt they always treated me with respect. Can't say that for most of the companies I've worked for. I think we as a group of Professionals need to start demanding respect. If we don't fight for it we won't ever get it.
Yeah, now that Jerry bought back Swift, he intends to recoup his investments in 7 months. Just a greedy bastard. Worse than CRE.
When I get old, I move north and drive slow in the fast lane.

^^^^^^^^ right there, click that. That's what someone thought about Swift, read his diary entree..it was priceless on many levels. Haven't heard from him in awhile though, hopefully he's doing alright lol.
As for Swift, I would prefer someone with years of experenice as my trainer, than someone who hasn't been driving for awhile, to become my trainer. if that made any since what so ever. But anyways Good luck with to you!
Swift is just a place to start like many other "CDL Puppymills". When drivers get experience, its always a good idea to move on.
