an outlaw outfit may hire you bu i am afraid most straight forward companies consider a dui a really really bad thing, i am afraid this will haunt you, but if you keep your nose clean from now on (Absolutely no bad marks, you will have to be better than a saint) eventually some doors may open, i know thats not what you wanted to hear but it is the honest truth

Since we're telling it like it is, then I find it interesting that people would make choices that put peoples' lives in jeopardy as well as one's own livelihood. Getting a DUI is bad news, but it's especially career suicide for a CDL holder.

    This is a joke right??

I don't know why any insurance carrier would allow anyone to drive with ANY DUI's.

This guy aint real, he probably wont even post again under that username. Just stirring up some "truckstop chatter" and trying to pull our chains.

Even if it were a real senerio, 25yrs in the industry, he would know he is screwed.

No decent company is going to hire you until you have 5 to 7 years between you and that DUI...that's a fact.

Sure, a DUI doesn't help the cause, but in reply to the one poster that said that is why the industry is going down the toilet............you make no sense. Accidents don't happen out there today because that particular driver had a DUI 5 years ago...........they happen because of dumbass drivers that, for example, take 55 mph downhill curves at 70 mph then wonder why the truck flipped over. Those kinds of drivers are the ones they should be real worried about, more so than someone that had a DUI back when they were 22 years old.

McDonalds is hiring. Drive thru is the closest you'll be to a truck.

I'm completely against drunk driving, but I must also say, for example, if someone is 35 years old and had a DUI when they were 22 or something, what is the big deal? Everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others. But just because someone drove a vehicle under the influence x number of years ago doesn't mean that they don't have the ability to be a safe driver today. Just think of how many people are out there driving drunk all the time, and just don't happen to get caught. Does this mean that they deserve a chance more than someone that might have driven drunk once and got caught? My point is, just because someone got a DUI x number of years ago doesn't mean that they haven't changed their ways, and it also doesn't mean that they would be any more unsafe now than some of the idiots out there driving trucks today.
